I've already posted this on ucla's side I just wanted to see what the people at Cal think about their school.

No...........

I have no regrets choosing UCLA over Berkeley. And I have no regrets that my son selected Berkeley over UCLA, other than, well, the bloody cost of housing!!! I just hope it's as left-wing as it once was, and as UCLA was but is no longer.

didnt get into LA which made it easier

UCLA77, unfortunately, its not even close to as liberal as you think. its filled with apathetic business majors....thats the only disappointment i have about choosing to come to berkeley. i was admitted to several ivys, but chose cal b/c i thought the atmosphere was more progressive, but its not...i was just fooled by a few protests i saw that just happened to be the same day as my visit there

It's hard to regret choosing one university over another b/c you don't know what sort of experience you would get if you had chosen UCLA over Berkeley. Either institution will offer you lots of opportunities if you seek them out. I know this is true for Berkeley.

Haha, what UCBUCB said.

Same thing as UCBUCB. I had the choice of Merced to UCLA option or UCB. I was kind of happy I didn't have (much of) a choice, even though I live about 10 minutes from UCLA. I like the Nor Cal vibe and it will make a nice change.

i don't regret it a day in my life. I LOVE IT HERE. UCLA people seem way more material focused. but that's my opinion.

never. ucla was my last choice.

i like the fact that berkeley has a semester system. i've turned down ucla and other schools that offered amazing scholarship opportunities... largely because of that. i like taking my time, and improving throughout the course.

ucla was also my LAST choice.
would go to cal over ucla ANYDAY.

Goldenbear10 -- NO! Say it isn't so!

hey, there's still plenty of counterculture and revolutionaries around, u just gotta look for them, the city of berkeley is still the people's republic of berkeley, the last communist stronghold on earth!

No, I was considering UCLA until I visited and disliked the location.

I do to a certain extent regret rejecting full-rides to some lesser UCs to go to Cal, because Berkeley is raping a hole in my parents' pockets.

well i havent gotten to berkeley yet, but i have some doubts/regrets, so i hope they all disappear after i get there :

i honestly don't think the semester system is that big of a deal...dont really see how it might be so much better than the quarter system.

...I'll find out after the first month of the semester :D

No. It's only my first year, but I don't regret it.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think I would have disliked UCLA. But I know that if I had gone to UCLA, I would have probably hung out with all my high school friends, and met less new people. I know some people who seem to only hang out with the people they knew from high school. Not that there's nothing wrong with that, but one of my goals going into college was to meet new people and live in a new environment, and that's why I chose Berkeley over UCLA.
