anyone still interested in Harry Potter?

Well I dont have the same amount of interest I had earlier. What about you guys?

MEMEMEMEME

heh another HP fan!

I never became obsessed into HP like some - I've never posted in forums guessing whether Snape is really evil or not, or fantasized about Dumbledore coming back to life. But I do still read the books when they come out and I plan to be one of those weird people who wait past midnight getting the 7th book when it comes out this summer.

^yeah, I'm pretty much like that. I'll be at the midnight thing, but pretty much only because I have to take my sisters. and they'll be reading the book before I do.
I never really got into the whole obsession over it.

I like it. Not obsessed, but I like it :P

I used to read the books when they first came out when I was younger but I have now lost interest. I do not intend to read the last two books of the series.

I think if you liked Harry Potter when younger, but not that much anymore, you should read books by Victor Hugo (like Les Meserables) and Alexandre Dumas (like The Count of Monte Cristo.) 'Cause this happened to me, and I found that these two authors had the same fun factor caused by the element of adventure and the general vibe of the Harry Potter books, but they write more elegantly and have more advanced themes and complexities to satisfy the more "grown-up" mind. Just my humble opinion.

Victor Hugo and Alexandre Dumas are excellent nyjunior :) I prefer reading Harry Potter to Les Miserables though. I love the HP series.

Harry Potter has been in my life for eleven years... that's more than half of my life. So, yeah, I'm pretty attached to him =)

I hate people who whine about how Harry Potter isn't 'real literature,' and it shouldn't be getting so much attention/doesn't deserve it, etc. That just makes me really angry... those people need to lighten up =P

Gah! 'Not real literature'? Blasphemy!

I used to be really interested..and then I read the fifth book which I completely did not understand and lost interest. But I picked up the fifth book again a few months ago and once again I am in love with HP! I don't post in forums or anything, but I'm definitely ridiculously excited for July.

And I hate it when people write off the books just because it is (more like was) intended for kids, like they're too "good" or "mature" for it. NOBODY is too good for Harry Potter!

Harry Potter books comes out at the same age as I am. It makes me want to follow the story. Yeah, I'm obsessed with Snape (well...more Alan Rickman) and Hogwarts but I think after the 5th book, it kind of jumped shark.

I think once all seven books/movies come out the HP fandom community will slowly disappear and the series will be relegated to the status of "good children's literature."

You don't see people jumping up and down over Shakespeare anymore, or other stories that were very popular at the time of release. Maybe they'll force kids to read Harry Potter in English classes. (If they're lucky.)

But for now, I'm still following the series. It's fun.

I only read the fourth book when 12 and it was good. However, I wouldn't waste my time reading it right now.
Currently, I'm trying to kill Tolstoy's War and Peace out of mere desire to learn French and because Napoleonic war turns me on big time

By the way, I hate Shakespeare very much. I think he uses language superfluously; wasting too many words for simple things. In this category, Goethe with Faust beats the living **** out of Shakespeare with Macbeth.

Mr. Chipset needs to read post #12 =D

Hee.

I read books 1,2, and 3 around sixth or seventh grade, then read all the subsequent books on the day they came out or soon thereafter. I probably have more interest in the series now at age 18 (19 in June) than I did when I got through the 3rd book. After the fourth book, it picked up...even though the fifth and sixth books really started off slowly--their respective endings were worth it. I'm sick of the romance subplots, though.

Can it be July already?

The problem is, I already see what will happen in the beginning of the book. All the moves, the writing techniques, the subject and theme are banal and overused. It's like watch a soap show: too obvious to be fun.

It's not original anymore :)

its just so weird to think that by the time the whole thing is over, i will be in college. ive been reading the books and watching the movies since grammar school. its crazy. and the audience at the final movie will be interesting. so many different ages absolutely going crazy for the same movie.

god i love harry potter.

I used to be a LOT more into it, but I probably still qualify as obsessed. I used to check mugglenet.com multiple times a day... now I check it about once a week. I'm going to a midnight party for both the book and the movie. I'm trying to reread the books first but I'm finding I don't have enough time. I think that's why my obsession has become less.. it all comes down to not having enough time.

I don't want it to end.
