Anyone still waiting for aid package?

We are still waiting for my kid's financial aid package. The school contacted us the last week in March, requsting more info which we promptly sent. As of today, the file is "still on the Director's desk" which means that no one has looked at it yet.

Is anyone else still waiting for their package? Does the fact that it appears to be pretty low priority mean that it will be a less-than-great offer? (And this was the first-choice college, too....)

If you know where the package is, have your D e-mail and let the "director" know that this is a first choice college and she is waitling with her breath held as a result.

Jamimom -
We keep turning to you for assistance -- thank you! When we've called, we talk to a "Financial Aid Counselor" although not to the Director (whom we're told has her file). We continue to mention that the college is her first choice and that we are hoping we can afford to send her and are anxious to know the results. The college has an "accepted students weekend" and we've indicated that we would like our students to attend that -- but of course, need to know what the package looks like!

Do you think an email from my daughter to the Director will make a difference?

Again, thank you so much for all of your help!

Still waiting for my Daughters package from Stanford. Rumor has it that they sent all RDs packages on Monday but we would have already received it since we live on the west coast.

I heard that Cornell RD packages werre going out this week, as well. Anyone else?

We're waiting on OSU. It's hard when all the others are in and you're just waiting for one to be able to make the final decision.

waiting on UNC-CH

Thank you all for responding. We're feeling a little better because we were thinking that we were the only ones who have not heard = low priotity = not good prospects for great aid.

Jamimom -- I passed along your advice to my dd as soon as she walked in the door and she sent an email to the Director of Finaid. Keep your fingers crossed!

We're still waiting for a couple from state schools. One said they didn't even start looking at FAFSA's until around May 1st. The other would probably have had an offer to us by now, but I messed up on sending them the FAFSA.

It certainly does make it harder to decide when you don't know how much money you will be getting.

Still awaiting UVA & Berkeley

I'm keeping my fingers crossed, Boxmaker. The reason I said for D to e-mail is that adcoms often can tell the diff between the parents disciplined approach in request and a child's heartfelt query. If the kid says, she wants to go there, it can make a difference. Good luck to her.

We received one yesterday and one today. The rest came either with the acceptance or soon after. There is technically one award still out there, although I was able to access it on-line. But I don't have the total costs, so it's a number in a vacuum.

We are waiting on Amherst College.

Still waiting for UVa

I only received one (today) out of five---terrible -_-

I hope I get to have enough time to decide since my decision will be almost entirely based on finaid packages I get from schools lol

I took Jamimom's advice and had my dd write an email to the Director of Financial Aid. She receive a response within a half hour (!) saying that they will send something out on Monday. She emailed back and asked if they could also email the info to her -- so hopefully, we'll know by Monday night. THEN, maybe I can get some sleep...!

Still waiting on OSU, which I am attending. I got all the other aid packages so it's a little odd.

Waiting on Harvard.

I'm waiting on USC. I check every day...but it's still under review :(

waiting on NYU
