Please posts your major, GPA, local or non local, and other stats along with any other information you’ve heard! Last time I called the admissions office they told me I should know by July 1st, which is extremely late and frustrating.

Unfortunately, it does not appear to be a rumor for many majors. See “California Transfer Students Applying to Non-impacted Majors” about 3/4 down the page. http://www.csun.edu/admissions-records/transfer-impaction#criteria
3.9 Minimum GPA for admission from Non-Local California Community College or 4-Year Institution.
3.70-3.89 for wait-listing of these non-impacted, non-local transfer students.
@Learnum why haven’t we gotten rejections yet then? Cause some people have already received rejections because of that. When did they announce this, I wouldn’t have even bothered applying if I had known this.
@chs2014 I had that same thought after I posted my response yesterday. If those GPAs are the deciding factor then that should be it and they let you guys know to look elsewhere.
So that can’t really be the final deciding factor for every major. I mean what if they have a major with room for 100 juniors and only have 75 applicants… seems they could have a somewhat lower GPA and still fill that seat.
As far as applying back in October and November, I don’t think the admission number-punchers know what the limiting factors will be for the next year until they see what the applicants bring to the table - plus figure out some other stuff regarding the budget.
I think if you have not heard anything - gotten a rejection - it is a good sign. Maybe they are waiting to see how the current group of sophomores finish up this semester’s classes, and start to register for Fall, before seeing how many new juniors they can accept. ???

Well I have already heard from CSUN last monday. I have been provisionally admitted to CSUN. All I have to do is make sure to pass all of my classes. They are waiting for my final transcript. As for the requirements on 3.9 GPA, I’m not sure if that is exactly the case. I have a 3.3 GPA and I have been accepted.
@Luna117 then maybe the 3.9 gpa applies to more selective majors. Overall that requirement is strange and in fact makes it easier to get into a mid-level UC, considering you need a 3.2 gpa just to TAG to UC Davis.
The 3.9 is more strict on impacted majors. I had a 3.5 and was rejected for not meeting requirements. I was a tier 2 aka non-local applying to an impacted major. My friend is in the same boat, tier 2, non-impacted, but was waitlisted and was accepted today. It’s so strange and unfair, I think. I understand they want locals to apply, but it really gets rid of regional diversity to the school. My friends wouldn’t believe me when I told them I was accepted to UCSB, CSUF, and UCI, but rejected from CSUN for my GPA. There’s still hope if you’re applying to a non-impacted major and from out of the area.
We’ll just yesterday I saw that I was accepted to CSUN under accounting. I think CSUN is great and would rather go there over CSULB. I recommend that you visit both schools and consider a myriad of factors such as what the student body is like, what their program is like, recruitment and so on.
Sorry it took me a while to reply I didn’t bookmark this page. Yes I am local (Van Nuys). Well I visited both schools and found the environments to be largely the same at both schools and yes because it’s so close low cost is a plus for me. Accounting is a huge program at CSUN and even though it’s not as prestigious as other schools it does provide all the tools needed to become successful. I visited CSULB after I already applied and frankly while it wasn’t by any means bad nothing impressed me. Everything just seemed average (campus, students, program). As I said before visit both schools, talk to people, research their program. I received responses back from all the schools I’ve applied to except SDSU and at this point it’s a coin toss between Cal Poly SLO and CSUN. Cal Poly is the better school but I might stay here and go to CSUN since it’s cheap, will provide me with what I need to succeed and frankly the full college lifestyle does not fully appeal to me.
