Well at this point what else can we do! I mean at this point what is another week or two

Well, another week or 2 may require me to pay non-refundable deposit(s) to my #2 school. ;)

I’m still waiting too. Also received the “will notify you by March 18” letter. Have to say I am amazed that they have failed to meet this published deadline…can’t imagine UF or FSU doing that.

It’s pretty unprofessional and embarassing. At a minimum they should have put up some generic “sorry we are running behind” message on their web page or Oasis. Think it might be time to go ahead an put down deposit at UCF…

Had heard the the whole Admissions office was reorganized this year (from a guidance counselor) and that all the applications have to go through David Henry Lee.

Is that March 18th date that you guys are talking about is that for High school seniors that are applying as freshman or for transfers, or for both? For what term is that March 18th date Summer or Fall? because i applied to USF as a transfer student for Fall 2013 in January and I still have yet to hear back from them. I applied to UCF in February and I heard back from them 3 weeks later…got accepted. USF TAKES FOREVER! Its ridiculous.

Ahhhh! Just found out I was accepted this morning!!!

Congrats!!! Thats awesome news you should be proud!!! Hope to see you there this fall :)

Accepted today!!! So happy!

Congrats! Go Bulls!

Hey congrats!!! See I told you everything will happen for a reason:)

Thanks! See you there. ;)

Sorry for reviving a dead thread but I was told I was accepted for Spring of 2014, when I applied for Fall 2013. Could someone help me figure out what happened?

Ya you would start in the spring semester instead of the fall

http://usfweb2.usf.edu/admissions/pdf/counselor-grid.pdf

Take a look at the matrix in the link above and find out where you fall on it.

I’ve heard students are offered Spring admission when they applied for fall if they’re an out of state student who didn’t meet the eligibility requirements for the fall. This may also happen to someone if they applied late and USF accepted the maximum amount of freshman that they can for summer/fall terms.

While this may not necessarily be your case, you can probably get a more individualized answer by calling the admissions office and asking about it.

Am I the only one? Would I be a semester behind for all my studies? The undergraduate admissions office was not very kind, and detailed on my questions.

^lol not surprised. I emailed an advisor there LAST YEAR and then they asked for more information and then they NEVER responded back.
That school is horrible at communication and giving decent and helpful information to prospective students and even current students.
I’m not saying my current Uni is any better, but they are way more patient and at least answer questions no matter how often they hear them throughout the days.

This will happen to many students, there’s a lot more people that get accepted for Spring than you would think. To be honest this happens because for one reason or another (finances, academic performance, homesick, etc.) people decide to leave USF after their first semester and either go home or transfer schools. Students are offered Spring admission because they know there will be more space.

I would suggest taking classes at your community college during the fall, so that you’re still doing something productive with that semester. Knock out some gen-eds that will transfer to USF, and you’ll still be on track with everyone else. You’ll also have saved a heck of a lot more money than people who start in the fall, which is nice. Just make sure they’ll transfer in as credits you can apply to your degree before you do it.

USF’s director of undergraduate admissions, David Henry, stated in audio done last summer in below link that USF aims for about 4000 new freshmen enrolling for fall/summer cohort out of about 30,000 freshmen applicants. Surprisingly, Henry says only about 200 new freshmen will enroll in spring semester at USF. USF retains about 90% of freshmen for second year of studies, so only 200 available seats in spring for new freshmen kinda makes sense.
