is there any disadvantages in submitting ACT rather than SAT I score?

No there is not and plenty of people do it.

whatever…

Nope, you are horribly incorrect. The ACT and SAT are both viewed equally by universities. It is a fact.

how is it a fact? and i’ve read it in many admissions articles.

has anyone been accepted to a UC with only the ACT score?

Horribly incorrect is exactly right. If you’re the dean of a selective college and you clearly tell applicants that you accept either SAT or ACT, why the heck would you give preference to one over the other in judging submitted scores? You’d only hurt yourself given that many people never take the SAT. You’d spend tens of thousands of dollars on recruiting underserved areas but you’d be so stupid as to say a SAT tester is inherently LESS than an ACT tester.

No logic here to me.

As a matter of fact, a Yale admissions rep when asked about this said, “Send the higher score” (the questioner had like a 30 ACT and a 2200 SAT or something)

(BTW, my ACTs didn’t hurt me any. Got into all colleges applied, eventually matriculating at an HYP college)

thnx for the responses
i have another Q:
when sending the ACT score is it like sending SAT where i have to send all of my scores?
i have taken it twice…
or do i get to choose mine
i know that SAT has score choice but it doesnt work for UC so i was wondering if i can only send in one of my ACT scores

For $9, you can only send in one sitting of your ACT. I don’t think anyone would like to spend more to send in all the ACT score unless the college would superscore each of your section. So I think you have the choice to choose your best one.

I’ve contacted UCAppInfo a few days ago, the response I got is
“An applicant would self-report on the UC application the ACT and/or SAT scores for the sittings they wish for the UC campus(es) to consider and arrange to have them forwarded to each of the UC campus(es) applied to by January.”

Gravity – One of my kids was accepted to UCB and UCSB with ACT plus SAT II’s. Also, ACT has a tradition of score choice, so the student does not have to inform the university of any sittings beyond the one(s) he wants to send unless the university has a policy that requires all scores to be sent.

The ACT has always had score choice, even before the SAT did.
