anyone takes IB here???

Hey, I'm currently doing IB first year. As you might know, this year English A2 is combined to group A instead of language B which means all the native speakers come to A2 now. My English is quite weaker than them so now I choose to take English B HL.. will it be a huge disadvantage when I apply to some top colleges?? I will definetly submit a good toefl score...

my other subjects are

Chinese self-taught
spanish ab
Maths HL
Physics HL
Economics HL

will the school pay more attention to the overall grades or to the courses choice? do they look a lot at all the courses you choose or only the HL course? I'm interested in Physics and Economics so I chose them as HL......some people think my combination is a little bit too easy to get a PG 40......how will the universities think?

and is it possible to swich to A2 next term when my language skills have improved a lot? can i still catch up?

Many thanks!!!!!!!!!! love you all CCers!!!!!!!

Colleges look at the rigor of your courses compared to other applicants and at the level of performance that you have in those courses. They also look at the predicted scores that your teachers had given for the IB exams. I don’t think it would be a huge disadvantage to take English B HL (I’m not sure whether you can switch to A2 next semester), but definitely try your best in that class to show your English abilities. Talk to your counselor about this because not everyone here at CC knows your school system. Good luck!
