Anyone taking AMC 12A this year?

Yesterday, I took the 12A (for 2014). Using my other friend’s (and eventually teacher’s) answers, I predict that I got a 111. Do you guys have any idea of how anybody else did? What do you think the cutoff score is going to be for AIME qualifying?

Nice job, Sanctic! It looks like you definitely got in with the pre-determined cut-off of 100.
I think I got a 93…answered 15, got 13 right. The cut-off for last year was 88.5 so maybe I have a shot at the AIME.
I actually didn’t think any of the questions up to 14 were that bad.

Yeah, a 111 guarantees AIME qual. Nice!

what do you guys predict for cutoff? I’d say high 90s

I’m obviously hoping for a 93 or below, but based off of the problems and what AOPS members are saying I’d guess the 96 - 98 range.

Over on the AOPS forum, they said this was one of the easier amc 12’s in recent history so I would predict a high 90’s if not flat 100 cutoff this year.

^ actually on aops it said, the easier questions were easier and the harder questions were harder. People were struggling to get over 120 on the 12a.

When will the results for AMC 12A be announced? Will we know our scores before we take the AMC 12B test?

yes…

Have they announced the AMC 12A cutoff score?

Nope; it’ll probably be 93 or 94.5, though.

^^^
They announced it yesterday. It is a 93.

Oh, but the website says “still grading”.

I thought 12 B was a lot easier.

12b was definitely easier i think
only answered 14, so hopefully i didnt get any wrong

The answers are out. How’d you guys do?

Oh my goodness… Didn’t get to take it this year because I’m now in college–My schools hasn’t had AIME qualifiers since 2010 when we had one of the best math teams in the county / neighboring county (and that 88.5 curve).
But I’m so proud of my high school for having 4 AIME qualifiers (more than the best 3 schools excluding mine in the area combined)
One of them was a perfect 10A exam!

I failed so hard… got an 87 on AMC 12A, could’ve gotten higher if I didn’t make a stupid mistake.
I then took the AMC 12B, and my brain just wasn’t working that day and got ~70 :frowning: (didn’t read #2 carefully, I thought 2 balloons was 4/3 not 5/3)

I got a 106.5 on the 12B. Soooo glad to make AIME since this is my last year. I answered 18 and made two mistakes (solved for the perimeter of one of the inner rectangles for 5 and assumed that there were only two 8s for number 11)

@ RandomHSer
lol I made the exact same mistakes you did. made other careless mistakes too though.

Can you take the AMC test if your school doesn’t offer it [Like at another school]?
