AMC 12A 2015

Who’s taking the AMC 12A this year? How are you all studying?

As someone who’s taught AMC10/12 classes, the best strategy is to just solve lots of problems, especially from past AMC’s and AIME’s. You can also look at problems from other math contests of similar difficulty.

Additionally, the AMC’s and AIME generally include a lot of number theory, combinatorics, and some more advanced geometry, which is not usually taught well in the normal classroom. I’m not sure what your strengths and weaknesses are, but always helps to focus on your weaker areas.

Just doing problems at this point. I planned to get through both AoPS books after the AMC last year, but then junior year got in the way…I don’t expect to qualify for AIME, but there’s still that shimmer of hope that’s going to kill me.

Bump, tomorrow!

Im taking the AMC 10A which is supposed to be tomorrow, but we got a snow day

Good luck everyone!!! My fellow east-coasters - I’ll be sweating alongside you all tomorrow at 8AM.

Good luck everybody! I’m taking it tomorrow afternoon

The AMC 12 was actually pretty easy this time around. Managed to solve 16 questions, so I’m really hoping I get into AIME!

thought it was alright. Anyone want to PM?

Felt it was harder than last years A. Anyone want to PM?

I’ll PM anyone who wants too

Please do not discuss the contest until tomorrow 7AM.

Do not discuss, I know people who are still going to take it.

When are the answers posted?

I thought it was kind of hard…

Anyone who wants can PM me

Study using AOPS.

@StudentofMathAMC‌ - Tomorrow, at 7 I’m assuming?

I actually felt that it was relatively easy compared to past tests…

Stop discussing, people are still taking it. Remember California, Hawaii, Alaska.

i’m suprised there aren’t that many 0’s. It’s actually very easy to get a 0.

@wcao9311 a 0 is pretty tough to get. Even if you correctly solve 15 problems and guess the rest, you have a (4/5)^10 chance of getting 0.
