Accidentally? Aha, well. There was an email sent yesterday I believe saying 8A would open up more spots, so you might be in luck. Also, CompSci majors (and whatever else needs it) get priority so your counselor should get you in there easily if it’s still full.

I’m taking CSE 11 with only half a year’s experience. Been reading through the textbook (well. More like small little paperback) and I think I can manage.

If all else fails, try it for a while. The textbook at least is meant for those without prior experience; the class is just fast. You can do it if you discipline yourself

I’ve never been unable to get into a class because it was full. Every time, either the CSE department opens up more spots or people drop the class.

Here’s part of the e-mail if it gives you peace of mind.

"Just a quick reminder. In the past, we have found those who have had a year of programming at a community
college or a year of AP Computer Science in high school should enroll in CSE 11. Those who have not had this
experience should enroll in CSE 8A. Those enrolled in CSE 8A need to also enroll in one of the CSE 8AL labs.

We are looking for a larger room for CSE 8A and we are looking to add another section of CSE 8AL. Check back
daily for these changes/additions.

If you have any questions which class you should be enrolled in, feel free to contact me. I am teaching both
CSE 8A and CSE 11 in the Fall."

I’m taking CSE 11 without any formal classes, but I’ve written somewhat complicated programs in C and I perused Java for Dummies the last few weeks. xD

i’m scared. i don’t wanna just drop the class cuz i need CSE8A , 11, MAE 9 or 10.
should i just waitlist on the MAE 9 because failing the CSE 11 class… well, it won’t be good.
