I'm interested in taking this course next year and would like to know a bit more about it. If you've taken the AP during a previous year or are taking it now, it would be great if you could let me know.

haven't taken it, but my french teacher said that only fluent speakers should bother trying. After all, you're basically doing english lit work but in a second language. There are a few haitian girls in my class and they're even scared of trying it-and they've been speaking french their whole lives! :) That's my only experience with it, though.

Hm..from what I know it will be quite a big challenge, but I think it's something I'm willing to try out before giving up =]

What I'm wondering is if any of you know where I can find a course guide for this class as well as a list of possible textbooks/resources apart from the reading list offered each year? I'm curious to know what an actual AP French Literature class would go through since it'd be a huge task for me otherwise, to have to pull out materials from all over the place with no vague idea at all - even before beginning on the actual texts!

I took it...just took the exam today. I didn't find the class/test too hard but I know a lot of people in my class do. It was quite a bit of work over the course of the year, though. There are 11 required authors- the curriculum changes every year but this year it was 3 novels, 2 plays, and 6 poets each with about 4-7 poems. We did a poem/chapter every day, taking turns presenting situation/themes/stylistics/tone/vocab to the class. A bit of discussion. Obviously, these authors didn't fill the whole time, so all of the other days, apart from when we wrote essays/textual analyses, we read poems/excerpts from other authors, proceeding chronologically, fitting them in with the period we were in with required authors. A lot of these other authors appeared on MC passages, and they helped with reading comprehension. I feel pretty confident about the exam-4+, but you never know with subjective things like lit exams. I'm happy to answer other questions.
And no, I'm not a native speaker.

I started reading your post "fusiondogg" and I was about to say, hey we read Colonel Chabert too, and it all looked really familiar. And then I saw your edit. Haha.

Haha that's pretty cool how you met someone in your class on here..yesterday I found someone from my school on here ;)

Do you think any of you could send me samples of DTAs/guidelines/assignments completed? I'm not a native speaker of French and took AP French Language this year. My school doesn't offer AP French Literature but because I have a deep interest and desire to further pursue this language I'm going to attempt to self study. Thus, any help at all - suggestions, advice, etc. - will be really appreciated. :D

Also, I've found the reading list for 2008:

Je ne pense pas, mais on ne sait jamais. Il faut lire le nouveau description du course quand il est sorti, parce qu'il aura une liste des livres qu'il faut lire pour l'examen prochain.
