Looking for students or parents of students who have applied (or interesting in applying) as a transfer student through the Conditional Transfer Pathway Program to share advice, tips, and encouragement. I have read that there have not been too many Conditional Transfer students at Georgia Tech. My daughter and son are interested in this pathway after my daughter was presented the Conditional Transfer Pathway by Georgia Tech after not being offered admission as a freshman. They are thinking of attending Clemson 1 year and then transferring to Ga Tech. We are not Georgia residents, and I (their mother) has a bachelor’s degree from Ga. Tech. So, might be a good way to attend Tech for my son and daughter if they really want to go there and meet requirements. http://admission.gatech.edu/conditional-transfer-pathway–
My son received the same offer and plans to apply for the transfer. Both parents and his brother attended GT, so he’s a legacy. He’s starting his freshman year planning for a transfer so he’ll need to take slightly different courses to meet the GT requirements. He’s contacted his freshman advisor to find out how to do that.
My daughter may consider it next year too. We were considering that for years. Use OSCAR college transfer as outline. Also you may even consider Community College. Place does not matter, you need only high statistics and 100% transferable classes by selected major.
I realize you asked this question a while back - but wanted to share our story. My daughter was just accepted for Fall 19 as a Conditional Pathways applicant (multiple legacy/3rd gen/in-state who was deferred last year). She finished two semesters at an other local university, all transferrable, and was accepted.
She did NOT have the required GPA for conditional pathways, as she was sick in the Fall and ended up dropping a class and getting a C+ is CS. She rallied in the spring with a 3.8, but her STEM GPA was only a 3.2 with 3.3 required.
She wisely applied to International Affairs which had lower requirements than Engineering just to increase her chances of getting in. I’m not sure if it was the legacy, leniency on the Pathways requirement, or her other activities that pushed things in her favor.
I’m not sure how many students actually reapply via Conditional Pathways, and if showing continued interest has an impact or if the admissions person who read her application was just having a good day!
