Anyone transferring to UCLA film school?

I wanted see some stats of people who are trying to transfer externally to the UCLA film school. I'm out of state and I'll be trying for junior transfer at the end of next school year.

Hey... I'm going to be dead honest you and I'm going a realist about this question. I was once about to declare as a Film major at UCLA, but from looking at the recent stats it's almost impossible. Especially at UCLA, out of 500 applicants only 16 get in (3%-4% chance)... So I just instead declared as a Mass Communications major (Media studies). I've met so many film majors through various community colleges and at UCLA, and so far none have gotten into UCLA's film program. I actually met one person who transferred into USC film program, but overall most of the L.A film schools are the most competitive and the best film schools to get in (UCLA, LMU, Chapman, USC, AFI, etc). I remember that my film professor had to reapply to UCLA's film school three times to get in. Sorry if I sounded like a ******, but then again you could be that 3% who get into UCLA. So good luck.

Haha thanks. Do you know what the rates are for other film schools? I live in PA so NYU would be really close by. What about USC's rate?

Does anyone know when they usually call for an interview??? ( i have applied to an Undergraduate Film program at the UCLA)

You could always major in something like Communication or English and minor in Film. From what I’ve heard UCLA chooses canidates based upon raw talent and not GPA.

Transfer applicant here!

The admit rates ARE outrageous but hey, SOMEBODY’S getting in… why not one of us?

@Antonio

No idea when they call, let me know if you find out! Which aspect of film are you into and do you feel that you are a strong applicant?

Panther 13
I love directing and i feel that my application is pretty strong ( I came 2 years ago to the USA. I think my background is a little bit different from other applicants. For my Critical essay i wrote about Bergman’s " From the Life of Marionettes" film ( this film is not so famous as his other films and i think i will be the only applicant who wrote about that film, lol).

What about you?
