My friend got into Dartmouth, but he's going to Stern instead.

Is anyone else choosing NYU over an Ivy?

Is anyone else choosing NYU over an Ivy?

Two people from my school. One is turning down Cornell food science for NYU nutrition.

And the other is turning down Cornell AEM for Stern.

Im turning down Cornell CAS for NYU GSP..
too crazy?

Personally, I don't think you're crazy ascremer. NYU is in the country's liveliest city and you'll mature as a person from living there; besides that, internship opportunities are so much more convenient (and I'm thinking probably better, too). Did you get in the Florence or NYC's GSP??

I'm turning down Dartmouth for Stern because, believe it or not, I actually got more money from Stern.

yeah Florence GSP
thanks for building morale;)

I'm debatign between NYU and Upenn for Ir/Political scienc.e...
confuseddddddddd... love the city...but..?
suggestions?

Ascremer. I will be honest and say I am totally confused as to why you are doing that. Have you visited both places? Made sure you like NYU a lot?

I'm fairly certain that many NYU GSP students would definitely take Cornell CAS instead.

dylin, the kid's from Turkey. He/She can't really "go visit". Don't you think an international student would prefer New York to a rural area like Cornell??

I am turning down Cornell AEM and UPENN for NYu

:) neat, butterfly :)

Gehno, tough choice, but remember opportunities after coming out of NYU will be limitless. if you intend on going on to law school, NYU's law school is top 4 in the nation. NYU undergrads get to send in their application ahead of the other students applying and NYU schools are the second largest feeder of NYU law after Harvard. UPenn is great in it own right. base your choice on fit. well again it is hard not to fit in a diverse city as New York. NYU IR and political science dept. are highly rated. good luck.

Wait...butterfly....did u turn down UPenn Wharton for NYU or UPenn CAS?

ascremer, are u living in turkey or NYC right now? cuz it says / NYC USA in your location.

I was going to turn down Harvard for Tisch.

But I don't have the money, and I got NOTHING from an appeal.

jokr, i hope youre living up to your username and just joking...because that isnt funny... i really wanted to go to NYU and it is literally impossible for me in my situation.

I support you tawny!! Tisch is great. If you're into film it's probably THE best place for you. no merit scholarship though?

omg tawny, it would've been soo cool to meet u in real life.

jaimelajolie&dylin88:
I am from Turkey thats true, but I am actually American living in Istanbul. I was in NYC two weeks ago and I have visited NYU three times and was in Cornell with a friend who goes there this summer for a week.
I know that Cornell's reputation cannot be compared with NYU's, but I lived in metropolitan areas such as Istanbul (16million people) and NYC my whole life and I love big cities, especially NYC. Cornell might be a better choice, but I also want to enjoy my life outside of classes, which is really hard in Ithaca.
Once I am in NYU (even if GSP) I will have the same degree after my four years as any student from CAS and can continue (maybe in NY Law School) with my law degree, while having the same chances for acceptance.
That's the reason why I might choose NYU over Cornell.

Where did you get this info?
I am pretty sure that only a few NYU graduates get accepted by NYU law.

I think a lot of Stern kids turn down acceptances from 'lower' ivies, but I have yet to meet a person who has turned down HYP for NYU.
