Anyone want to help me out with matches/safeties (please!)?

I'm looking for a few good backup/safety schools in the NE but have no idea where to start. I'm currently a junior living in NC (although my first two years of HS were in upstate NY). GPA for my first two years was 3.6 ish (UW) out of 4, and I am aiming for a 3.4-3.6 this year. Took all the hardest classes I could, and I have ok ECs.

Here's what I am looking for-

Good school for either IR or pre-med. Northeast, with preference going to upstate NY, Vermont, Connecticut, Mass. and RI. I would like the school to be in or near a decent sized city (100,000 or more).

My first choice is Syracuse (planning on EA and I am a legacy) and my second choice is UCONN. Does anyone else have any ideas of a school that would suit me?

Also, how hard is it to get in UCONN being out of state?

Thanks in advance!!

BU and GWU are safeties.

How are your SAT scores? What extracurricular activities did you do? How strong do you think your recommendations will be?

I'm taking the SAT in December. ECs are fairly average, varsity tennis from 9th through now, violin and string bass, model UN, mock trial, things like that. Nothing special but I haven't really been doing nothing, if you know what I mean. What I hope to be my hook (at least for an IR school) is the fact that I spent a month before 10th grade at a military base in the Sinai desert observing and living with multinational peacekeepers watching the Israeli/Egyptian border. We were only a few miles from Gaza, so when there was fighting, we heard it. Anyways, I'm hoping that my experience there will at least set me apart some. If not, it will at least give me a good essay to write if the topic permits.

Recs should be good; I am new here and have been careful to let the teachers only see the best sides of me.

Thanks again for taking the time to help me out!

One more thing before I forget-

I forgot to mention one of the things that I believe may hold me back a little in terms of an IR school. I just moved down to NC after my first 2 years of HS in NY, and while I was in NY I took French 1-3 (8th-10th grades). The school that I currently attend dropped French last year so I am taking Latin with the hope of taking French 4 at another HS in summer school or looking for a comperable local college course to take during the summer. I know that colleges like seeing the same foreign language for all 4 HS years, so that is one thing that has me worried.

Thanks again!

I got into UCONN as an out of state w/ a 3.4ish (from a hard school) and a 1410, if that gives you some sense. Also, I only took language through junior year.

Bump...

Thanks!
