Is there anyone out there who knows they made the cutoff for National Merit Semifinalist who hasn't gotten their packet yet? I made a 230 in Texas so I'm almost certain I'm supposed to get one...but I haven't. I know of other kids in my surrounding districts who have already received their letters, and isn't there like a certain time you have to get all the information in (october 15?) I asked my counselor last monday, but she still hasn't sent word back to me. Should I wait a little while longer, call the collegeboard, ask the administration again?

I got 223 in Oregon, and I haven’t gotten anything yet.

They release names to papers on Sept 16th, so wait till then. I’m in the same boat.

Is there any reason a person wouldn’t become a semifinalist if he had a qualifying score?

My counselor just gave us ours on Friday, so I don’t think it’s that big a deal if you haven’t gotten yours yet.

same here, still waiting for the mailman

Unless you are home schooled, the letters will be sent to the Principal and you would have to get it from GC or principal. Also there is a whole thread on PSAT 2009 (2010 HS) where you can check to see where you stand.

Yeah, I talked to my counselor today, and he said everything is confidential until the 16th.

I would talk to your principal, if you can. I got mine at the very beginning of the month and on the official letter from National Merit it suggests that the application be turned in to the school by September 11th or 15th i can’t remember. Mine is due tomorrow. and then the school has to turn it in my october 16th. Your school might do it differently but I would definately make sure if I were you. Be assertive! (Thats what my mom always says anyway) :)

well today was going to be the day that i was going to call the NMSC if i didn’t get my packet, and voila! when i showed up to school this morning they had it for me! apparently it didn’t arrive in the mail until yesterday -____-. so if you haven’t gotten yours yet, i’d suggest you call or at least check to see if your name got released to the news media yet and then call. best of luck and congratulations to all!
