National Merit...confused?

According to other posts and stuff i've come across, i should be a NM Semifinalist. However, my school district doesn't start until Tuesday 9/06, so i have no idea what's going on yet.

Do they mail something home to the students, or just to the school? Should i have gotten something by now?

I got an e-mail from Texas A&M saying they had a scholarship for me because I'm a NMSF.

I scored above the 216 mark for Illinois. However, like you, school doesn't start for me until Tuesday the 6th. If your score is higher than that posted, I'm sure your counselor or principal will greet you with the forms.

I haven't gotten anything yet, so don't fret, but I'm positive I'm NMSF :)

I actually got something in December from Columbia talking about how great their school is for national merit semifinalists such as myself, even though the decision isn't made until September....I got a 227, though, which is 12 points higher than PA's usual cutoff, so I guess they just assumed.

The way things worked at son's HS, the kids who are NMSF got a note from the GC & told to attend a meeting. At the meeting, each was given the NMSF packet with info & instructions. No info was mailed by the college board to our home. Last spring, son was given letter from GC, letting him have CB notify 2 schools that he did well on PSATs.

I've gotten the email from Texas AM, but still waiting for the school. Which is OK - our school is typically slow.

I only got a 214; however in recent years the cut off for MI has been around 209/210.

Also, what if i have changed my mind on the colleges i gave to them last spring? Are you able to change them?

I believe so, when you apply for NM - check some other threads about that. Btw, I'm from MI as well, and based on an un-confirmed list, the MI cutoff is 211 this year, so you would be fine.
