Hi, I am on the college audition monologue quest right now and am having a hard time finding a contemp dramatic monologue that I connect with despite at least an hour a day of searching through multiple libraries (I'm in WI so the selection is bad!). I was thinking about plays that I have read in the past and "A Lie of the Mind" popped in my head. I lost my copy and I ordered a new one, but, alas, it never came and with tuition and college apps and other various plays I have ordered and being a broke college student I hate to spend another $10 on something unless I know I really like the monologue so I was wondering if anyone had the play and could pm me one of the monologues (if I remember there were at least two good ones, beth, I believe). Thank you so much if you could!

I have a Sam Shepard collection checked out and I'm pretty sure that's in it. I will check at my office tomorrow. Can you be specific about which monos?

If she doesn't have it - libraries often "inter-library" loan books between different library systems. If you talk to one of the librarians, maybe he/she can get it for you. Our library allows me to make this request online, as well.

thank you illinisue, that is what I was hoping to do when I came back home, but after about an hour at my library I realized that even with the transfer system there was no sign of it. Apparently there is only one play by Shepard in the southeastern wisconsin library system! My Mamet search was even more grim. My trip to the ww university library was the same (well they had more oneil than the public one did, but still). I made a trip up to the barns and noble in madison, which had a few more plays, but nothing that fit. Thank you for the note though, I really wish that would work!

Thanks again to dramama!
