Anyone's child has to use Coalition this year?

I googled and also searched on CC, but couldn’t find much at all.

For schools that accept both Common App (CA) and Coalition (CAAS), I noticed quite some differences in questions. For example, Purdue accepts both:

  • CA - essay prompts and the essay are in the "Common App" section. Purdue uses common app essay prompts. There are two additional short questions (100 word limit each) in their "Questions" section, but that is it.
  • CAAS - essay prompts are NOWHERE to be seen. Not in the profile section, and not on Purdue application either. The two 100-word short answer questions as seen in CA are there, but there are 2 additional questions that are not on CA: 1) Briefly elaborate on an EC activity or work experience (word limit 200). 2) "What else should we know about you?" (word limit 500). Is that meant to be the essay?

I think the difference can really affect the content of the application. So we are struggling with which one to use.

Anyone else?

I haven’t compared the look of the two applications to schools that accept both, but one thing I did note with the Coalition App is that the essay prompts tended to be referred to in the “Upload” section of the applications with a hyperlink to the prompts. In other words, follow the link to see the different essay prompts, write the essay using whatever application you prefer (MS Word, Google Docs, Apple Pages, etc), then save and upload.

@shortnuke Thank you SO much! I went back into the Purdue app and sure enough, it showed up at the VERY end of the question section, just as you described.
