Well I'm going to applying pretty soon, and I feel like I won't really be able to show who I really am!

I have a pretty bad GPA, which has really stressed me out and put me down alot... Going to a gifted school and having a hard time keeping up with all the other kids.

Ugh, I don't really know how to state this, I basically just feel like I've waisted my time at this gifted school to get mediocre grades and probably attend a mediocre college.. and I want to know if there are any little things I could do besides have good recs or essays that would help me out.

Also colleges know how competitive a high school is. My high school was very competitive, without grade inflation. Kids got into great (Ivy league, etc) schools with GPA's that, from another school, would not have gotten them in. Essays and teacher recs are really important. BTW, my friend went to Yale this fall and her roommate had literally scores of books that she brought with her for "fun reading." Some of these were in Greek (and she's not Greek). Boy am I glad that I'm at wonderful Amherst with smart, but normal, people. There are a lot of great schools out there, and a lot of smart kids who go to them. My best friend is at Franklin and Marshall, which many would consider mediocre. He is incredibly smart, and a great person. And I am sure that he will have a great education and he already likes the people he's met.....so try to keep perspective. (Even though I didn't at the time of apps.....)
