Hey,
I just took my AP Computer Science A exam, and I was wondering if you don't do well (like a 2 or 3) would that have any bearing on my chances of getting into GW? I don't plan on doing any computer programs while I'm there...I only took the class because of the lack of APs at my school. I plan on going into Political Science...
Thanks!

I don't think AP scores are looked at too closely, but I'm not an admissions officer.

It's all about balance...if you have low AP scores but everything else is fine, no worries (if you SAT scores and extracirriculars are struggling on top of that, that might be a problem)

I don't think they count at all towards acceptance. It only counts towards college credit. How could they use it as a measure for admission if not everyone takes it? No one has to take AP's, and it won't hurt you. Most AP's are taken by seniors (I have 4 this week), and the whole admissions process is done for me. Are they going to review my AP scores and reevaluate their previous descion? No.

No, I'm a senior taking 4 this year too...they definitely won't change a decision. I thought the question was from a junior. I still do think that they count some in admission. If they count the fact that you TOOK an AP class, why wouldn't they count the score? If you get 1's and 2's on all of the AP exams but have A's and B's in the class I think they'd be concerned.

The Colleges would never see your score unless you tell the College Board to release them; AP and the SAT are two separate programs.

If you are a junior and apply using the common app, there is a section that asks whether you have taken any APs and what scores you got on them. Its not official, so you could probably omit them if you wanted to. BUT if you thought yhey might help, you might as well report them. Some schools that don't use the common app don't ask for your scores in which case its a non-issue.

nope just checked the common app and supplement unless im missing something there is no AP section.. I thought I saw one in years past though

whats strange is your right, i checked on common app and the AP section isn't there but i'm almost positive i filled it out. maybe it wasn't on the common app but some other online application... idk, but i am very confused. sorry if i mislead anyone!
