Brown allows students to obtain credit for Math 100 if they obtain a 4+ in AP Calc BC or a 5+ in IB Math HL.

However, theoretically, what would happen if someone were to get a 5 in AP Calc but, say, a 4 in IB Math? Would Brown still award credit?

I don’t know why you think anyone here will know about some hypothetical odd situation. But I don’t think you really need the credit do you? Are you trying to graduate a semester early? My daughter just placed into Calc II, she didn’t try to actually get a credit. However in hindsight she should have started with Calc I. She did get a 5 on the AP exam, but her grades in Calc I weren’t the best and she had an extremely rocky time in Calc II. She did go on to a math-cs major though.

The thing is, I’m planning on double concentrating, so I want to have the option of getting some pre-reqs out of the way if possible, to avoid overcrowding my schedule.

However, this question was mainly just asked out of curiosity
I’m pretty confident in my math abilities, so this is more of a “what if” scenario.

I’m almost positive they’d still give you credit for the course, since you’re satisfying one of those requirements. If nothing else, you could take a placement exam to get out of it.
