AP Art History??? and other stuff.

so it’s that time of year. i’m making my junior year schedule. you all can help me with 2 dilemnas, ap art history and my number of AP’s.

AP ART HISTORY
Lol, I doubt many on here have taken this (it’s not a core course!), but then again, there is a good sized artsy community on here so what the heck.

On a scale of 1-5 (1 to 10, whatever) how hard is the class?
Compared to other AP’s, how hard is the class?
Is there a lot of rote memorization of facts?
What textbook did you use (I might have to self study if i decided to take it and my school cancels it)
How is the AP exam?

MY SCHEDULE
btw, I took 1 AP this year (Biology) and I’m thinking of the following for next year. (extremely preliminary considering i get the recommendations and stuff)

AP World History

AP Lang

AP Chem (heard at my school it’s a breeze after chem hon.)

AP Physics B/Physics Hon

AP Art History(???)

Pre-Calc Hon (this might be hard because i hate math and there’s lots of hw)

Newspaper (crap class, easy as heck)

Drama 1 or 4 (both decently easy)

Typically, I’m an A- student who is inherently smart and sleeps in class, is very lazy and scrambles at the last minute but always manages to make the A, everytime! my friends have the nearly the same schedule i do this year (1 to 2 AP’s and honors classes) but they all complain about staying up late with loads of hw. honestly I haven’t done more than an hours worth of hw at home in years, and I’ve never stayed up past 10 PM (i prefer 9 PM) on a school night. I’ve got a 4.0. (please don’t bash me, i don’t know why school is so easy, and believe me, i’m not complaining. my school is a *****hole and the teachers all suck.). Do you think I’ll need to:

a)change my act a bit, but I’ll be able to handle things
b)no biggie, you can keep procrastinating
c)full 180 to handle that schedule
d) turn around, do not pass go, do NOT take that many AP’s you’ll fail!

all comments are welcome.

I say c) :D . AP's aren't for procrastinators....many of us know that lol. I can't imagine procrastinating in 5 of them.

AP Art History sounds hard to me. It seems like you would have to memorize a ton of artists and their artworks as well as how styles of art changed over time. Could be interesting though.

im in IB art history, planning to take the ap test too
do you know who teaches it? if you have the right teacher art history is an AMAZING COURSE but i cant imagine taking it with a boring teacher
my class requires a lot of studying and memorizing artists
but its worth it and fascinating

C) i was in a similar predicament where i did no work and got As. Now i am taking 5 APs and Bs are a breeze, but As are a whole other level, you will lose sleep.

Art History depends on the teacher as well as every other AP, you cannot compare a class between schools. I thought it was pretty easy and fun even while taking other APs. Its different from any other AP i've ever taken (in a good way). The AP test was a breeze. I'm pretty sure you'll have fun, but if I could do it over I would have taken it senior year. We used Gardner's Art Through The Ages by Kleiner/Mamiya. You also can use Art History by Stokstad.
