sorry if this was posted already, i couldn't find it, and search doesn't really help...
anyway, on practice tests i've been getting about 75% of the MC right. how well would i have to do on the essays to get a 4 or a 5 based on previous curves?
thanks!

depends if you are taking the old or new test. If you are getting 75% on the old tests (120MC questions), then you'd need a 25 to 35 out of 40 to get a 5 on the AP

a 75% puts you in a pretty good position. Aim for a 5.

whoa that was fast:) yeah, i'm taking the old tests. and thanks for the encouragement lol. we'll see what happens.

I know this is gonna make me sound completely idiotic... ^^'... but... What's different the "new" test? I'm self-studying AP bio, and am using the book my sis used when she took it, so it's not really recent, and I didn't even know they changed it this year.

So, what's gonna be new on this year's ap bio test?

the new test only has 100 MC as opposed to the original 120. CB says that they give you 80 mins for it, although my teacher says 90... the rest is the same, 4 essays, worth 40% of your grade, and the MC is worth 60.

oh.. well, that's not that bad =) thanks

mdhopeful: maybe your teacher got it confused with the time for the FR section, but it's definitely 80 minutes for 100 questions.

80 minutes for 100 MC...were the old tests 80 min for 120?

i think they were 90 minutes for 120.... or it could've been 100 minutes...? No. They were an hour and a half for 120 questions.

ah that's probably why she got it confused, because it used to be 90 for 120 questions. thanks for clearing that up.
