AP Bio essays- how much do you write?

I put my pen down, wrote, and never stopped writing. For some questions (like number 2, it being so broad) you could write sooo much...

I usually got onto the last provided page for all the essays...is that the case for you?

i wrote like 3/4 a page…for 1 part

Haha for one of the questions (can’t discuss which yet), I actually ran out of paper and had to ask for additional paper lol

Lol, I got straight to the point and had like 1 page or so left to fill up on each one.

What?! I wrote three sentences tops for each part of each question. Maybe I’m just really dumb but everyone else was writing up a storm. Others I think just gave up after the first essay LOL.

1 & 2, three pages. i write pretty small though. 3 & 4 were really rushed, uhh barely two pages?

I wrote about 2 to 2 1/2 pages for each one, although my handwriting was pretty messy. The guy next to me wrote about the same but much neater, so I’m wondering if legibility plays a big factor in your final grade.

First question: a page and a fourth
Second: two pages
Third: a page and a half
Fourth: two pages

I write pretty small though, and the length of my writing is relatively short in all subjects. While length is certainly something we all should strive for, the quality of the writing is much more important than the quantity.

I don’t think I wrote more than 1.5 pages for an answer. My handwriting is incredibly small, though. I fit anywhere from 20-30 words on a line, whereas the the normal is 10-15.

Hmm well I think there were a couple parts where you could only write a few sentences…like if it were to ask like about a structure or something… but processes are much more complex and take up more space.

haha i wrote less than a page on every one of them. and for the 2nd question, i was like whatever so i just drew a maple tree or something. they wanted a tree, didn’t they?

went to the last page for all four…

During the 10 minute reading period I laughed at questions 1 and 3 because they were so lame. So I decided to do number 4 first, wrote about 2 pages for A and a page and a quarter for B and C. Then proceeded to BS most of the other questions, but wrote about 2 pages for each. I felt more confident after the FRQ than I did after the MC…

Shoot, I feel like I haven’t written a lot. :(

I wrote about 2 pages for each, and for one of them I wrote almost 3 pages. My handwriting is medium - and I thought I paced my time well; I guess maybe not…

how can you fill it up for all 4???

i wrote like 1.5 pages for each…this isn’t english lit, it asks for info, give it to them and shut up lol

LOL THAT MADE ME LAUGH. a lot.

in class, we always had frq mini quizzes once or twice a week based on previously released questions - i always wrote like 1.5-2 pages and got solid 9’s and 10’s…

i don’t think the length matters too much, me hopes :D

yeah seriously…

i mean i remember last year after the APUSH i felt confident, then i came on CC and people are like “I WROTE 6 PAGES FOR EACH ESSAY”…i was like…i wrote 3 pages for one and 2 pages for the other 2 lol…and i got a 5 on the test…so writing 10 pages can be just as effective as writing 2

-.- CC people always make me feel nervous.

after the apush exam, i had the SAME experience as you and i think i’ve even seen posts that were like, oh yeah i wrote 7 pages on the dbq. wth? and few needed extra paper omg -_-

quality over quantity, definitely :)

have you looked at the scoring guidelines for the free response questions on the collegeboard website? their answers, which include all possible concepts that they would count points for for each question, are usually 1-2 pages long. so i don’t know how necessary it is to add 4 more pages to that…

Yea i wrote 1.5 to two pages on each… ETS looks for breadth on the essays, not depth. More explaining WON"T get you more points.
