AP Bio or Honors

Ok so I have a question. I just finished my junior year, and I need to take bio next year to graduate (I haven't taken it yet) and I'm wondering whether taking Honors bio instead of AP bio would adversely effect my application.

I'm an IB Diploma Canidate, my classes this year were
Eng HL
History of the Americas HL
Design Tech HL
Psych SL
Math SL
Spanish SL
TOK

The rest of the classes I'm taking next year are
Eng HL
History of the Americas HL
Design Tech HL
Spanish SL (It takes us 2 years)
AP Calc
Health (Required to graduate)

My courseload seems pretty hard already, what do you guys think?

wouldnt taking AP bio be too big of a step to take without having some background knowledge about the subject? i know in my school we take freshman biology and then have the option to take AP biology later on as an upperclassman.

Yeah, generally you need some kind of base. Besides, with that schedule I'm sure your fine to just take honors.

Yeah, the problem is I took Honors Physics freshman year instead of Bio. There's no school rule keeping me out of AP, I'm actually scheduled for it at the moment, I havn't talked to the teacher about whether it would be possible to take it with no base.

Talk to the teacher, (s)he'd be able to help you more than us =].

Our school doesn't actually have a base, you can take a Biology sophomore year, and it can be AP, or normal biology. Most our students do well on the APs even without the previous study of biology.

Yeah but I would probably be the only student doing this in my school. I don't know how the teacher teaches it. I'm waiting for an email from my counselor with the teacher's email.

I checked with my counselor, he said people have done AP Bio at out school without anything before it. My question is, how much would taking Honors hurt me when I apply?

Not that much, but take AP if you can handle it. Maybe you can begin studying the material this summer.

You can take Honors Biology and study your ass of and take the AP Exam anyway.

Take AP Bio.
