So im a Sophmore, had a ruff first term, my dad was sick, financial crisis, had to jump onto snap etc. So with a lack of motivation, I ended first term with a 67 in AP bio. I want to major in bio and plan to head into med-school. What do I do?
On the Common App, there’s a section called “additional information.” It asks to describe any extenuating circumstances that could’ve affected your application that isn’t previously described on it already. There, you can explain how your father’s sickness and financial troubles led to your poor showing in such an important class.
Right now, don’t sweat it too much until application season; there’s nothing you can do about it. Just focus on the class and hopefully you’ll earn an A second semester to bring your final grade up!
Sorry to hear about all the obstacles you went through, but there’s no choice but to grit your teeth and work hard. I wish you the best of luck!
That’s also why honors bio and honors chem are recommended before students take AP Bio.
What matters is getting a B or higher second semester. Are you taking chemistry concurrently? What other classes are you taking?
This may not be an option, but at my school my AP Bio teacher is pretty nice and understanding. If we take the AP exam and get a higher grade on that than we do in the class, he’ll go back in and replace it. No idea if your teacher would be willing to do something like this, but my first suggestion would be to talk to them and give them a little insight into your life first semester. If they have a better idea of what’s been going on and see you’re really putting the effort in they may be willing to make some arrangement.

Retake the first semester online.
This is a very difficult schedule for a sophomore.
I agree that you should retake that semester (online or in person) - see your GC.
I’d recommend you stick to 2 Ap’s next year (AP Comp and one more).
Make sure you take physics (honors or AP1) and chemistry honors during your schooling.
