everyone on CC has been saying how hard AP Bio is. Did I miss something? I'm taking it as an independent study class. I don't think it's very hard.

In what way is it difficult? I'm screwed for the AP test, evidently!

In what way is it difficult? I'm screwed for the AP test, evidently!

Bio is epic hardcore and the most difficult thing ever out of all subjects. I genuinely had trouble with basic bio as a freshman last year; everything else is pretty much boring as hell to me but all is easy except for bio.

If you're good at bio, auto +2 respect for the hardcoreepicness. Me, who pretty much takes academics like lulz and doesn't like all subjects, would actually do 4 pages of math than a page of bio's reading.

I think that as an independent study class it might not be as rigorous as it probably is with a teacher. Are you reading Campbells? That book is filled with a lot of details and some people might find it difficult to retain that much information in such short periods of time.

personally I don't find it that difficult. I <3 Bio :D

It totally depends on the teacher.

In my school, it's reputed as the hardest class ever.

We've had lots of tests and quizzes and assignments and I have a 99.55. I think its difficulty is overrated.

And the teacher is great -- very enthusiastic and hilarious; keeps us all interested in what would otherwise be boring rote memorization. An example of how fun her class is: She's trying to stop cussing 'cause she has a son who's six or so and soaks up everything she says, so she has a "curse word jar" in which she has to put 50 cents every time she curses in class (and if any of us curses in class, we also have to put in 50 cents.) She told us that "Once we get enough money, we can buy some food and reward ourselves... wait, that's not right...!" I love her. <3

So basically it's all win.

Bio at my school is considered to be one of the easiest APs and is usually taken by the freshmen. The teacher's tests are compiled from past APs but she curves generously, so the average grade in the class was somewhere around a B or so (I ended up having ~110 I think, haha). Most of her students get 5s on the AP test, very rarely does she have a 3s, or anything lower.

AP Bio at our school is supposedly the hardest class. And so far, I'd have to agree. AP Calc AB plus AP Physics B is nothing compared to AP Bio alone this year. But I do have major senioritis.

depends on the teacher and ironically its the easiest ap science class

I think it's easier than Physics, and DEFINITELY easier than Chem, but our teacher gave us soooooooooooo much to do. He was going to retire three years before, but he didn't because they couldn't find a replacement, so he wasn't very enthusiastic about teaching. He would take roll for about 30 minutes, ask if we had questions, give a 10 minute lecture on the chapter, give us the last 20 minutes of class to read. So he didn't actually teach, but he gave us loads and loads of homework. So it was the most work out of all the AP science classes I've taken, but not as hard of a subject.

Bio is one of those classes which requires enormous amounts of information digestion - if you have a pretty decent class with a good teacher, you'll have to read most of Cambell's biology (at least most of the chapters), which itself can be a pretty rough read. It's packed with details and learning all of that stuff isn't easy for most - some of the concepts require going over a couple of times for full understanding. Also, you have to regurgitate that information - a whole other story. It's pretty hard to do and requires a lot of time and effort. Of course, the AP test is pretty decent. Don't take all the negative responses badly. Last year, I spent a majority of my time studying on Bio and learned to love it - to me it's a lot more interesting than physics or chemistry.

ours is second easiest only to AP environmental.

I don't understand how chemistry and physics can possibly be more difficult than bio, but eh, that "everyone's different" thingy must somehow...

I LOVE BIO!!! IT's so EASY!!!! in my school the hardest class in school is AP Spanish with Senor Diaz or AP Euro :D.

Independent study classes are fun. You mean at a cram schoollike institution? You're learning impressionistically. Then again at every place that my parents get charged money, I go out of my way to make the info stick :/

OP if you think its easy then that's fine. I think its easy. I just get arrogant==>careless errors i.e. 97 vs. 100.

I LOVE AP bio. I have a great teacher, so that makes it better, but it really isn't that bad. I also love bio in general, so that helps...

the hardest at my school are chem, english language, calculus bc, physics c, euro, and the foreign languages.

the easiest are bio, human geography, english literature, gov, statistics, and computer science.

physics b, music theory, us history, world history, and ab calc are in between.
