So, I'm a junior right now and senior year I plan to take AP bio(the only AP Science seniors can take in my school). I'm curious about the opinons about AP Bio from people that are taking it.

easy and loved it! its mostly memorization but of all the APs i’ve taken it was by far the most interesting.

It’s really fun and interesting :)

I am not by any means a science-math person, but AP Biology made me fall in love with the subject! I have posted this in other threads, but will reiterate it here: AP Bio is not the most difficult subject to understand, but it certainly encompasses one of the highest volumes of information of all the APs. It is definitely worthwhile, though, and a really fantastic course if you have a qualified teacher and a great class dynamic like I did!

I find biology fascinating. I’m not particularly good at science and memorizing isn’t my strong point, but it doesn’t matter. I may not ace the quizzes, but I totally GET the bigger picture. I’m no natural, but I still find the class incredibly rewarding. I prefer the evolution and ecology aspects. I’d love to take some earth science courses and biology got me to take Environmental Science, which was also intriguing.

Biology is amazing.

hard but rewarding

When I took AP US History last year, I hated doing the work and studying for tests. With AP Biology this year, I am interested in what I am learning, making it so much easier to work on it! I have also taken AP Literature and AP Calculus, but Biology is my favorite.

Need to memorize a lot of stuff but still interesting

I honestly hate the class. I cannot read even a paragraph from the book without completely going blank. It just feels like mindless memorization complemented by some fleetingly interesting but ultimately boringly obvious concepts. I like classes in which I feel as though I am thinking.

AP Biology is one of my favorite classes that I have taken in high school. I highly recommend it, but it can be a lot of work at times (mostly due to lots of rote memorization).

what would be more fun/ look better? AP bio or a Syracuse Honors forensics class that my school offers.

I’d love it more if I had a competent teacher But overall, it’s a great fun class. I love the labs.

I am a parent of a soph son, who took bio in 9th and is taking Chem now. He does not like math/eng but likes history. He says he wants to be a teacher.

He has take AP human Geo this year in 10th and is wondering about next year…he will take APUSH, although the teacher at our school has a bad rep. He wants to do one more AP and since he still talks about some bio related stuff every now and then I feel that he should take AP Bio next year, the only issue is that it is 2 blocks so it will take up 2 slots (out of 7).

His counselor suggested AP Psych but I think it might look too weak esp after AP Human this year. He will take Pre-Calc and Physics since he is not too much into Math (it is very teacher dependent for him).

I have a senior son who is a total Math/Physics person but hates History…hence my newness at this.

It’s a cool subject, but I definitely prefer chem/physics to bio.

I meant to ask those of you who have taken AP Bio, AP Physics what would you recommend?

Im taking AP bio now as a junior and its a great class and the materials very interesting. The only problem is that there is a lot of information to memorize and study that it might at times be overwhelming.
