AP Biology 2011 Official Thread

^^Phylums to some degree yes.

@chess94, hahah, nicee.
^Speaking of which, do I have to worry too much about animal kingdoms? I know the different characteristics, and the order in which they come already

eta: never mind

Also, someone wanted a muscle contraction video?

I highly recommend mcgraw hill videos, they always help when I don’t understand something :)

[Animation: Action Potentials and Muscle Contraction](http://highered.mcgraw-hill.com/sites/0072495855/student_view0/chapter10/animation__action_potentials_and_muscle_contraction.html)

@supergrover911
You just described my schedule lol
Yay for 4 AP classes… but we’re almost done!!! Just tomorrow and Wednesday, and we’ll be through(: My schedule’s gonna be so open after Wendesday…

ap bio is my last one! i only took 3 sophomore year

Well, I’m about to go to bed. My MC score is now high 50s consistently… :frowning: if I can get 7/8 averages on the FRQs, then I’m good for a 5. If I get a 4, which I’ll get unless I’m lucky on the essays, I’ll probably end up retaking it next year when I’m in Biotech and plan to do the SAT IIs…

G’night!

when i took the AP bio test, i found it exceedingly easy (95+). all i did was go over cliffnotes the day before.

@highexpectation yayy for us!

@himura ankit has the 2002 exam, but idk if he’s still up. I can send it to you if he’s not

Bed by midnight will improve performance much more than any additional study!

^ ivybridge
What would you advise I study at this point…

80/100 on 2008 Practice/Audit Exam, if anyone wants to take one last practice test, take this one.

I need to finish going over the labs (watching bozeman), and then I’ll consider bed.

its pretty much too late now, but you can still get a 5. if you go over a short sat2 bio book, it will more than cover enough material for a 5.

okay thanks

I am scared for the FRQ’s

@supergrover911, this one is the only one that I’m worried about. After this one, I’ll be (relatively) worry free until the last day of school!!!(:

@BigIs, I’m planning on going to bed by 11. I realllllllllllly hope the FRQ’s aren’t horribly bad tomorrow… I haven’t gotten much studying on those.

Does anyone know how accurate the Sparknotes diagnostic test is??

I got a 4 on it and i hope it’s accurate

I think it could be a good idea to come up with general definition essays for the CliffNotes 15 together.
If everyone contributes one, we could all have a basic understanding of very popular essay topics.

What do you guys say?
These are the essays:
1.Organelles and plasma membrane
2. Respiration
3. Photosynthesis
4. Mitosis and meiosis
5. DNA replication
6. Protein synthesis
7. Natural Selection
8. Speciation
9. Reproduction in angiosperms
10. Plant tropisms/hormones
11. Nervous system processes
12. Muscle contraction
13. Menstrual cycle
14. Ecological succession
15. Biogeochemical cycles

I’ll start with Essay #6.

“Protein synthesis occurs through the process of translation of mRNA. This process begins when tRNA molecules carry amino acids that are free in the cytoplasm to the mRNA strand at the ribosome. This is done according to base pairing rules and the sequences of the mRNA codons. The tRNA molecule has both an amino acid and an anticodon. GTP supplies the energy in the process of protein synthesis. There are 64 codons in this process, but only 61 code for amino acids. The other 3 (UAA, UAG, and UGA) are considered “stop” codons because they terminate the production of the polypeptide. The codon which codes for methionine, AUG, starts the production of polypeptides through what is called initiation. Elongation occurs during the elongation of the polypeptide chain and termination occurs when a stop codon is reached.”

Study the back of your eyelids. Cramming at this point isn’t going to be as beneficial as sleep will.

toystoryfan, i’d love to contribute, but unfortunately, it’s midnight here on the east coast, and i need my BEAUTY SLEEP (not really… it’s more like brain function sleep…)
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE :slight_smile:
&& Goodnight.

@highexpectation, yeah, this is the only one I’m worried about as well. But I’m mainly worried about the FRQs. I took the Bio SAT on saturday, so I have the basic gist of everything down
…what does biogeochemical cycles mean?? oh godd
