AP Biology 2011 Official Thread

no they were not hard… Guys what score would this be … Cause i’m scared the curve will be lowered… okay so lets say 20 wrong on the multiple choice… There was 8 i didnt know, but obv i could have gotten more wrong… and the essays these are my predicted scores; (10, 8-10, 10, 7-8) …

My favorite part of the test was the fact some of the MC’s misued the subjunctive tense. Haha.

so hypothetically…
then would jellyfish be an example of intracellular and fungi or extracellularly.
also if i gave the wrong reason WHY it would be examples, do i still get credit if i gave correct examples. even if i defined extracellular and intracellular opposite.

allby, that’s a very solid 5.

Hey! sorry to repost but i would like an answer c:

what if for the question about the prezygotic barriers i /described/ two forms of isolation correctly but labeled them wrong? like instead of geographical isolation i said environmental isolation, and for mechanical isolation i said sexual isolation–would i still get points for my answers, despite the incorrect labels??

I wrote that jellyfish and other cnidaria were extracellular

What do you guys think a (32/40)frq and 75/100MCQ would be?

stina0606, I did the same thing as you, I knew the barriers but not their names. I think we’ll definitely get partial credit, but I think it’ll probably be full credit, because i don’t recall the question asking for specific names of the barriers.

APPass.com people… Calculator. But aa, that is a solid 5.

Stina, you will get some credit for it. Probably half.

aa2011. a definite 5 i should think.

Im not trying to go according to ap pass due to the fact that it is based on 2008, and 2008 has been the hardest test in the last couple years. So it had a lenient curve. But this year it doesnt seem like it. The dumbest kids in my class who are literally “supposed” to get 1’s said the MC’s were easy.

@ aa, if you read the side info it says that it’s not from 2008, but that it’s on the new grading system

i feel asthough it’s too good to be trueee… cause out of ap us and ap calc, ap bio wasthe easisest… which is rly weird… or maybe we r just most prepared for it; cause i spent most of my tiem studying for ap bio… .-___-

I agree with @aa. If so many ppl are saying it’s easy, the AP calculator on appass.com is invalid.
Hopefully not though lol

For the organelles one, I put plasma membrane as one of them because i could only think of two other ones related to the eukaryote. Do u guys think I’ll get any points for this or am I just screwed for that question?

@houston . it cannot be the new grading system because the curve is determined when the 2011 bio exams will actually be graded. This is the new grading system that collegeboard released for all their released exams to compensate for the MCQ Penalties, but this system on ap pass is still according to the 2008 data which would probably indicate that the mean raw composite score would be lower (due to the difficulty of the 2008 exam) than it would be this year.

oh then i guess you’re right then haha i was just following what the info said. but either way, I’m praying for at LEAST a 3. it’s gonna be a nerve wrecking 2 months…

But lets be optimistic and hope since this is a “test” year, they do not change the curve.:)

I’ll say this again… AP score curves are NOT based on how the STUDENTS do. It is based on how the COLLEGE STUDENTS do on it who are given the exam who are taking a college course in a equivalent subject. If it were based on the high school students, there would be a perfect bell curve year after year. (NOT the case)

lets say there was a question about about a function of the brain (i wont say which question because you are not allowed to say questions)
of the many choices one was cerebrum and the other cerebellum anyone remember which the answer?
