AP Biology next year, prep advice?

I'm taking AP Bio next year as a senior even though I last took regular Bio as a Freshman, I have since forgotten everything.

My memorization skills really stink especially after AP Physics C with a teacher who didn't require us to memorize anything.

Anyhow, is there any table, list etc. that I should learn to help prepare me for the rigorous AP Bio course next year (school starts August 31, which is 1 day after I get back from India =)

Thank you

You’re not really expected to do any prep work in the summer. The test isn’t bad at all, and you’ll be surprised how much you’ll remember over the course of the year. I’d recommend to just chill and enjoy the summer.

Well, I am going to be in AP Biology next year, and I am prepping.

Since my school uses Raven/Johnson AP Edition, I am reading Raven/Johnson High School edition to make the class a lot easier. If your school uses another textbook, such as Campbell Reese AP Edition, read through a high school campbell Reese high school book.

Keep in mind that this is only if you want to be super prepared. ;)

You should always read the textbook. And remember, Cliffsnotes AP Biology is a MUST! As the above posters have stated, the class and test aren’t that bad.

I’m also taking AP Bio next year. My teacher gave us a list of prefixes and suffixes to memorize over the summer since most all scientific nomenclature is generated by combining Greek and Latin roots.

Haha wow, my teacher must be mean. I have to define like 70 words, read and outline 5 chapters, and do like 30 questions. XD This is gonna be a fun year.

Oh and did I mention the vocab tests the first 2 days of school?

Wow interesting…
thanks for the responses guys

I envy those that have no AP Bio HW -

We have like 10 Chapters to complete in terms of outlining/reading and a bunch of online/interactive quizzes and tests that ARE graded. Andand (it gets better), an interactive lab for each chapter that also has to be submitted and graded to the teacher.

I might become suicidal ~

Same… for my AP Bio class (summer work)… have to outline/take notes on 4 chapters (ecology) in our textbook (Campbell and Reece), and we have an exam the first day of school using former AP Exam questions.

along with four other ap homeworks, my biggest chunk is ap bio.

  • campbell 8th edition, to outline all of unit 8 (ch 52-56)
  • campbell study guide: unit 8 interactive questions and quizzes
    ://
even though i planned to do half a chapter a week for ten weeks of summer,
i laggged VERY much during summer!
now, within three weeks of hw date due,
i’ve made a change to finish TWO chapters a week! :///
but oh well, i’m surprisingly making good progress
    but lacking in having a life… :///

QUESTION:
what ap bio prep book is recommended to use as a guide throughout the school year?

Funkaylaydee, everyone here recommends Cliffnotes AP Biology Prep guide.
