@YoLolololol Do you think they were the experimental questions?
Ugh those FRQ were horrible. Our class spent only a week on ecology. 2 of them were fine but the others I just didn’t know how to answer. Sigh.
@nerdmaster
I think they throw out 10 mc’s… I’m not sure though…
Is the apcalculator.com accurate? This says that 55 multiple choice and 20/40 frq would still be a 5
No, the long free responses are worth more than the short free response. That calculator just sums up everything and multiplies it by a certain number.
And the multiple choice is out of 58 or 59 not out of 69 (10 questions are thrown out).
The curve for a 5 is usually 92~93 out of 120.
No that doesnt seem to be right. The curve has always been around 77 %.
Guys, I think I really screwed up, I put the zebra fish as the most recent species. That would miss up all my answers for that free response. Do you think they will give points for consistency of error?
@Punisher1998 i didnt have a question with zebra fish maybe it was experimental.
I also took the exam today, I believe as long as you are above 85% on your FRQs you should be getting a 5. Lets say you missed 20 questions in section one, you’d still be at a strong 71% for the first section. Typically the curve for a 5 is around a 75%-80%. On my practice exam it was 93 cutoff for a 5 out of raw score 120. I don’t think it will be difficult for you to get a 4 though, the questions were significantly easier than ones I’ve previously practiced with.
So how many multiple choice can you get wrong and how many frq points can you miss to get a 5?
I thought there was only 6 frq until after I already handed in my test. rip
Whoever said the bit about this being basically Envioenmental science that is soo true! Like so much of the test could have easily been on an environmental science test. In fact on of the multiple choice questions I remember from my Envioenmental science test.
Everyone In my room had issues with time. Most of the released exams for new format had 20-30 questions that could be answered quickly, and a bunch of one’s where you had to think or read. On this test most of the mc involved a lot of thinking and/or reading. Few were easy.
@YoLolololol Really? 10?
TBH I hope that pH question doesn’t count LOL I was so frustrated with it.
lmao after the multiple choice i wasn’t feeling so great
the free response on form O was okay but i probably made some silly mistakes
if there’s anything i learned after taking the bio and and calc ab exam, its that i can’t manage my time while taking a test. i didn’t do the grid ins and i don’t feel too good about the last 10 multiple choice. i rushed them so that i could try the math grid ins, but i was so panicked that i couldn’t concentrate on the math ones lol…and in hindsight, they were so simple!!
but overall, it felt like CB picked 3 topics and made the whole test off of those topics. half the stuff i studied wasn’t even on there. oh well.
wow i did not take ap bio this year but the curve for that exam is high. regardless, i hope everyone gets the score that they want!
also, what are these so called experimental questions on mc? how do they factor into the score?
@dancinginastorm Pretty sure it’s like the SATs in that they don’t factor into your score. I didn’t get any about the zebrafish or pH that people have mentioned.
Do you guys know what the cutoff for a 4 is going to be?
Dang didn’t have time to finish all the FRQs…did anybody else feel like there wasn’t enough time for the FRQs? Any estimates for the cutoff for a 5?
@an88gela Thanks, your words definitely cheered me up a little. At first, when I opened the MC packet, I was like “Man, this looks easy.” for about ~30 questions, and then from 40-50 I really got stuck and time was ticking so I had to rush a bit there. My heart dropped when I found out that Grid-in was part of the MC time and that everyone had done it (and there’s that regret because I usually do really well on Grid-Ins) so next time, I’ve learned my lesson!
