I'm going to be starting my freshman year at Maryland in the fall. I had my orientation before AP scores came out, so I signed up for Calc 1 for life sciences, and was told that I could drop the class online if I so choose when AP scores come out.

AP scores came out, and much to my suprise, I got a 5 in calc BC, which gets me out of both calc 1 and calc 2. Maryland's own premed requirements say that I do not need anything above calc 2, so am I done with calculus for good? (I find stats to be a lot easier)

Do medical schools care at all that I used AP credit to get out of calculus in college? Not going to lie, I really don't like calculus (I got a 3 on AB), and I dont consider it my strong suit at all.

I got a 5 on Bc also but I’m taking calc ii anyway just because there are some stuff in the class I haven’t learned and if anything it will boost my GPA

As wow mom said, it is critical that your transcript says that you have a year of math credit. If your school simply let’s you skip calc 1/2 don’t bother (unless you want to). Just retake and ace them.

It varies by medical school. Some require calculus and accept AP credit, some require calculus and do not accept AP credit, and some do not require calculus. You need to check each medical school to see what they require.

OP,
Contact Med. Schools adcoms for this question. Med. Schools are different. My D. contacted them with the same questions. She got responses very quickly, for both Math and English AP credits.
