AP Calculus AB 2013 Thread

Tennis chick, this is only the first of many tests. I was also very disappointed after my first test. I ran out of time, and made a few stupid mistakes. I ended up scoring an abysmal 75, but I technically only missed two questions. However, I was counted off 6 points for each question in which I didn’t show my work fully, which amounted to 13 points. I guess I’m looking forward to the next test, which will consist of derivatives. I guess all u can say is to be optimistic. My grade in Calc AB is an 85. I’m the only kid in my class that made an A on the summer assignment; 92. I also got a 100 on this derivative assignment. I guess if I do well from now on, I’ll hopefully have and maintain an A.

I’m not sure which to get. I’ll end up taking AB and BC. I’ve been told 84 has useful apps. 83 seems significantly cheaper, so is it worth it? I will take very little math in college.

My school give us the 83 and it works just fine … esspically since its cheaper … why waste money when at the end of the day no matter how fancy and expensive the calculator is it wont work if u dont know what its doing … so i cay 83

We got 84. I’m not a huge fan. I use the TI multiview lol.

Anyone else’s teacher grade really hard. We had a limit quiz today and i got 77% with showing all work AND GETTING THE CORRECT ANSWER FOR EVERY PROBLEM!!! Just venting

I’m in the same shoes. I had a test today. I made two stupid mistakes, so I’m pretty much already down to an 80. There was a bonus, which I’m almost certain that I answered correctly. However, I didn’t fully show my work, so no credit.

Wish I had EC…85 in the class though so Im still far from ineligibility

We only got the bonus because every kid begged the teacher. I kind of wish I could stop thinking about my mistakes. I’ve literally spent the entire day trying to remember what I was thinking while taking the test, an what I did wrong hahaha. I have an 85 as well. The tests count 90%, and the teacher doesn’t grade anything else. So, I’m probably screwed.

you have time to pull it up (so do I) so I wouldn’t be worries about it

Well…I did a lot worse than an 85. My grade dropped like 9 points from that 1 test. I’m down to a 78. I’m quite worried and disappointed, but I guess that won’t get me anywhere. We started discussing the chain rule today. I’m gonna get started on my Calc homework, and maybe study a bit everyday from now on to hopefully ensure that I don’t do too bad on the next test.

Well finished a quiz yesterday and have a test tomarrow and then I’ll be done with the limits chapter. :)

Completely bombed my first test today with a 50-something. I had no excuse either. It was really easy.

This year should be interesting.

Harmelion, I’m in the same shoes. A in every class except Calc right now. I’m pretty worried. This year is off to a bad start. Progress reports are going home next week. Report cards for 1st 9 weeks in a months.

^ hmmm… you guys dont have online access to your grades? We haven’t had progress reports for almost 5 years now :)

We have online access, but the county sends progress reports and report cards so that the parents are informed.

O my school assumes that the parents check on their own. Got a 91% on my quiz from Friday but felt awful about this test I just took

I hate the chain rule. This is like the one thing that I don’t understand. I get some of it, but when I have to do somewhat complex problems like: sqrootx + 1/4sin(2x)2, I want to cry lol.

Well i just finished chapter 1 (took the test today) … and chapter one was like the “what u should know before you take calculus” … and school started on 8/20 for me … so my teacher definatly goes slow  … but atleast now i can start on some actual calculus

Chain rule’s so annoying, but I guess it depends on how someone teaches you.

Calc BC here, btw.

Can anyone give me a chronological list of your current lessons from beginning of school til now? I am trying to get a sense what other people are learning outside of my school fo AP Calc AB
Ex.
1 week - review
2 week - blah blah on (name of lesson)
3 week - harder blah blah on (name of lesson)
