My teacher gave me an ultimatum for next year's schedule: Either take ap calculus ab or go dual enrollment and take 1,2 and possibly 3 each semester starting in the summer. Which would look overall better to colleges like UF, vanderbilt, jhu etc. Thank you!

Assuming that calculus 1 and 2 are typical semester-long college frosh calculus courses, and calculus 3 is a multivariable calculus course…

AP calculus AB is a much slower paced course. It is equivalent to college calculus 1 plus a little of calculus 2.

However, note that college calculus 1 in the summer will be at about twice the pace as college calculus 1 during a regular semester, since a summer session is about half as long as a regular semester.

Calculus 3 is generally only required for math, statistics, physical science, engineering, and pre-PhD economics majors.

Can’t give you any advice on the AP/AB business, but I am doing Calc I, II, and III at the community college before I get out of high school. I’m not doing it in summer though; I’ll be taking Calc III in spring. I’m not trying to get into any top schools, though I am going into engineering so it is needed that I take Calc III eventually anyway.

@ucbalumnus So should I go calc 1,2,etc route on dual enrollment? Will it look more rigorous

It will be more rigorous than calculus AB.
