I don’t believe they do
I’m taking AP Calc AB next year! Does anyone know if we need to have all the trig identities memorized for the test (sum/difference and double angle)??
On the Calc BC test, you only needed the Pythagorean identities and double angles for cos and sin and squares for cos and sin. However, for AB, you only need Pythagorean and very basic trig I believe
That’s reassuring. Math formulas are not the easiest thing to remember >.<
Just warning that if you find memorizing precal formulas difficult, AP Calc (AB or BC) will be really tough. There are theorems, formulas, rules, etc. that involve really complex topics. For me, Precal was a class I didn’t study in and got 98+ the whole year. In AP Calc AB I have to study and I have a 94.
hmm…I’d never expect an AP class to be easy
What are y’all working on? We just finished ch. 3 in the Larson book (Applications of Derivatives). I have a test tomorrow and I’m a little nervous!
@kwazi33772 Don’t stress, I’m sure you’ll do great!
We’re doing applications of derivatives/differentials right now. It’s really fun! We’re supposed to be starting integration some time next week.
We did basics of integration, and now we’re doing natural logarithmic integration (sounds fancy, right?) It’s really interesting
@Shanban1607 I did okay…our teacher lets us check our answers afterwards and I feel like I got a low B. We have lots of grading opportunities, but I’ve done a lot better.
I never even heard of integration. My teacher is a little crazy (but I LOVE her) and she likes to keep her most “delicious” (as she says) topics a secret until we do them.
Update: Just started integration and I love it! So fun
Are class is just having the unit test on Limits (Unit 2), are we behind?
*Our class
@Tobster18 Have you done derivatives? If not you’re definitely behind my school.
grade?
@Tobster18, yeah, that seems pretty late to be doing limits, but maybe you guys have a different curriculum than my school. It’s ok though, you’ll probably be fine as long as you cover everything (derivatives and antiderivatives are most of it).
Yeah we’ve only done limits. I felt that we were going really slow, and I brought it up in class. And she said, that “yeah we may not finish the curriculum before the AP exam, but we will get enough in that you could probably squeeze out with a 3”. And since most of my class is seniors, they are ok with a 3, but I am not. I am freaking out. ~X(
Oh no @Tobster18! In that case, I would suggest self-studying (derivatives and integration make up a good portion of the curriculum from what I’ve seen so far, so maybe getting a good foundation in those would be a great start. Then, you could study harder topics if you have time) Good luck!!
Where is everyone at right now? My class has already taken THREE tests on derivatives already :)) I don’t know if I can deal with another one. Right now, we are finishing up the application unit on derivatives, and we will start integrals in January. She said we aren’t behind, but I don’t know.
We’re doing integrals and summation right now. Finding the area under a curve and all that. It’s super fun!
