AP Calculus Grade

So, I've had a pretty rough start in the beginning in AP Calculus because I didn't balance out my schedule too well, and I have been getting B's. So as of now, I have an 84% B for the first semester grade.

How detrimental would a B in AP Calculus be even if I get a 5 on the AP Calculus Exam? I would really like to get into Stanford... So any past experiences would be great. Thanks.

I'm going to assume you are a junior (since otherwise the AP score wouldn't matter). It probably will not make a huge difference if you're application is not math/science focused. If it is, I would suggest raising the grade as much as possible and finding a way to take a higher level math course next year.

^^ agreed

calc is pretty easy compared to what's down the road

It probably won't do much if you prove your math ability with other stuff e.g. SAT II
I got B- for AP Calculus BC first semester senior year but still got a likely from UCLA Engineering.
My previous math grades weren't that good either.
Only one A and the rest Bs (even a C+ last year!)

Check out some other threads regarding calc. Lots of kids are worried about this grade their senior year when they send in mid year grades. You should be fine with a B, keep everything else strong and I think a 5 on the AP exam would definately offset the grade. Not to worry... really.

Thanks, that's a little relieving. I plan on going into law and/or economics, so I'm not doing involving too much math. Thanks for the other responses.

Actually...economics can be very mathematical
