Hi,

I am currently a sophomore and taking Pre Calculus. I got a C+ first semester, and will probably get a C+ again second semester. It's a very hard class, and my friend in AP Chem said that he worked harder in Pre Calc than AP Chem to give you a comparison. But, he got an A- in Pre Calc.

I probably could of gotten a B if I worked really hard and got a tutor quite often. But, I was a little lazy and didn't have a tutor that much.

My GPA wasn't that good. This was my only C, and I got all Bs, plus one A. The Pre Calc class really lowered my GPA because of all the energy needed for it. I am taking lots of honors though. I plan to go to like a middle UC, maybe Santa Cruz, and probably major in something business related. Or possibly philosophy. Most likely business though.

Math is pretty hard for me, and I don't really like it. But, since I am a year ahead then most of my peers, I am not sure what to do. We had two chapters in trigonometry. One I got a B in. The other I got an F. I heard you use lots of trig in Calc.

So, what do you recommend?

A) I take AP Calculus, but get a tutor and work really hard in it. I don't take that rigorous of a course load so I can do good in it. The teacher is known to be just okay.

B) I take Statistics, which I am currently enrolled to take for next year. I can take a harder course load this way. Our statistics class is known to be really easy and kind of a joke. Our school doesn't have AP Stats, or normal Calc. I would prefer to do this, but then what would I take my senior year? Statistics seems applicable plus sort of fun. While Calc would be hard, boring, and not applicable. It would be torture.

C) I can take Calculus at the local community college. Or maybe a stats class there or something? Maybe Calculus A? Would that be easier than taking it at high school?

D) Or, maybe, I can retake the class and probably get As, and take AP Calculus my senior year. Would this look bad? I probably wouldn't do that, but just an idea.

What do you recommend? Please help! Thanks.
