I’m taking both AP bio and AP chem next year. Please give me some tips for each. Specifically, difficulty, studying for tests, studying for the ap exam, general survival, and more! Thanks in advance
Well, they are both difficult classes. You just need to make sure you put the time and effort into studying. Biology in my opinion is more memorization based so you definitely need to know your terms. Chemistry is more process based, so you definitely need to understand labs and processes. I would advise you to check out the 2014-2015 AP Bio and AP Chem threads if you want advice on prep books, general survival, etc.
I heard from former students that AP Bio is mostly memorization. But I think getting the overall concept is equally as important. There are two Cliffnote editions for AP Bio (3rd and 4th editions): not much difference between these two but the 4th edition consists of more details than the 3rd one.
Good luck my friend! :)>-
Hiya! I took AP Bio my senior year. I never took AP Chem, but I did take four AP classes my senior year, so I know the pressure of juggling multiple AP classes. I worked hard during the year, and yes, biology does involve a lot of memorization. However, I think more important than that is understanding the reasoning behind the concepts of biology. It’s not enough to remember what homeostasis is but how maintaining it affects different organisms, for example.
For resources, I found Bozeman Science and CrashCourse Biology really helpful on Youtube. Also, I would outline my textbook every week and look over my notes after school. The hardest part of APs is keeping up with the workload and managing your time. If you can get that part down, I think you can succeed. Good luck!
