I am trying to choose between AP BIO and AP CHEM. I'd like to know which class looks better on a college application. Thank you.

I had to make this decision too. I ended up choosing AP Bio, but now I’m feeling the guilt from my current chem teacher who wanted me to do AP Chem, and I am starting to think AP Chem would be the better idea for next year >_<

Chem is the more difficult class. But it depends on what you major is. I would choose Chemistry though.

There is no reason that colleges would prefer one over the other. Take whichever interests you more, or, more strategically, take the one in which you will do better.

I think it depends on the school since your local admissions officer most likely knows your school well. After that, I it probably matters even less than the slight amount it matters with your local admissions officer.

While I’m sure it’s not a HUGE difference, in my school I think AP chem would be preferred IF YOU DO WELL since it’s a MUCH harder class than AP bio. AP chem is considered the hardest AP in my school (probably tied with AP Euro, calc BC and physics C). AP Bio is a MUCH easier class. However, depending on the school, AP Bio might be harder. Keep in mind though, it’s probably not a significant difference so take what you will do better in.

I actually did really well in AP chem, so it was the right choice for me but I know many people who have gotten high 80’s in the class (AFTER the curve) who could have easily gotten a 95+ in AP bio so in that case bio would have been better.
