If there is only enough room in the schedule for one of these, which would you choose - AP Bio or AP Chem? Why? (Already took earth science, bio, chem and physics in the honors versions.)

ap bio because it is easier to get a 5 on...
ap chem is the hardest ap (at my school) but if you are good at science and like memorizing oxidation #'s and periodic tables go for it :)

It depends on the strength of your honors classes. Which subject do you think you comprehend better?

bio is a ton of reading, but chem is more math.
depends on what you prefer

I say chem, but I hate life sciences. It depends on your preference. I don't think either class looks better than the other.

I'd prefer bio, because I hate math sciences. But it depends, what are good at? What do like? Math or reading? Formulas or text? Chemical properties or the functions of life?

Thanks everybody. I guess they are just too different to compare. Might depend on who is teaching it....

I'm awesome at math, but I still can't stand using it in chemistry. AP Bio FTW!

ap chem is way easier to pass and get an A in. I did minimal studying and only read the chapters the night before the test. On the other hand, you have to actually study and comprehend the concepts in chem so cramming doesn't always work.

Ap bio = life

AP Bio seems to be winning! ;)

AP Bio. If you screw up the tiniest calculation in chem your screwed, whereas in bio you read and understand info. I hate math sciences.

Ap chemistry for the win!!!!!!!!!!
It looks better on a college app. (Because its harder)
Just bust your tail and make sure you get a 5

AP Bio is just rote memorization. If you can remember all the concepts/terms given to you, you will do well in the course.

On the other hand, AP Chem (what I am currently in) is all about understanding dozens of formulas and applying them. If you know how to work with a formula and apply it to word problems (which is what much of AP Chem is) then you will do well in the course.

I think chemistry is more difficult to do well in because you actually have to know how to use the formulas/concept and how to interpret/understand them. You can just memorize massive amounts of information and easily get an A in AP Bio.

How hard it is doesn't relate to how good it looks to colleges, simply because the level of difficulty of each class is so subjective. At my school AP Chemistry is a joke. I learned more and was challenged more from chemistry honors sophomore year.

ap bio is actually the hardest class in my school. i'm currently taking it, as long as you read the text book and comprehend all the information it shouldn't be too hard. as for the people who say its just memorization it really isn't. i went into this class thinking it would just be memorizing text. on tests/exams they don't just ask you what a certain thing means, you have to understand a concept and be able to relate it to other things as well.

I chose AP Chem over Bio because I took honors chem last year and figured I might as well get the advantage of two years of chem in a row.

I took honors bio freshman year and while it wasn't difficult to understand, it truly was a ton of memorization (photosynthesis ftl lol).

Depends on what you want to do as a profession. and what your prior experience with chem and bio are

I am taking both right now and I find Chem to be much more interesting. Bio is a lot of reading while chem is really easy to understand. If you are any good at math, chem would be the better choice. And colleges will like either one of them as long as you get 5s on the AP tests.
