AP Chem or AP Bio?

Cant decide between the two!!! I am more interested in Chem than Bio, however I probably dont see myself pursuing either in college. Only problem with AP Chem is that at my school AP Chem is a lot more difficult. People often get an A in Bio but that is pretty rare in Chem. Is it worth taking a class that I would enjoy more, but could possibly take up a lot of time after school, and tank my GPA??

Other classes I’ll be taking are
APUSH
APLA
AP Spanish
Pre Calc

I dunno. I loved AP Chem and the class was a breeze for me. It wasn’t that the teacher wa easy either; she had a 90+% pass rate. I would suggest you take the class whose subject appeals more to you. Nothing worse than being stuck in a crappy class learning a subject you hate, all for that extra GPA point… Also getting a B isn’t going to kill your chances at getting into a top school if that’s what youre concerned about. Do whatever leads to less suffering.

Have you had 2 semesters each of the “big three” - chem, bio, and physics? If yes, then choose whichever class you’d like, if not, you need to take the class that fulfills the “big three”.

Personally, I found AP Chem to be much harder than AP Bio (full disclosure: this may be because it was my first AP science class). However, I feel it was more along the lines of a college class than AP Bio. Additionally I felt it gave me a lot of great skills to succeed in college and the background knowledge I needed to take college level chem classes. It was a very difficult class, but I studied very hard and got an A (and did well on the AP exam)! The year I took AP Chem I had a similar schedule to you - AP US History, AP French, AP Art History, Honors English 11 (couldn’t take AP til senior year at my high school), honors math, and I think another class I’m forgetting about. It was tough, but do-able.
