Next year I’m taking APUSH, AP calc AB and AP calc BC, Aice media studies, AP Enviro , AP BIO, and Aice global perspectives. Im really considering switching AP BIO to senior year or AP enviro, i am currently in honors chem and it is my favorite class ive had an A in it all year yet Im really not willing to get a B in AP chem. Is it possible to get an A in AP Chem?? Do you think my scedule would be too much?
I would not really worry about AP Enviro unless you really like it for some reason.
Make sure you take physics at some point.
Take AP Chem if you like Chem.
Your schedule is too demanding - don’t overload. 7 AP (or Ap equivalent) classes in a year is insane.
First, remember it’s not a game of who has the most Ap’s, wins. After 8 APs TOTAL (over all HS years), the law of diminishing returns applies.
Also, how are you taking Calc AB and BC at the same time/ the same year = block scheduling?
If you love Chem, take AP chem instead of AP Enviro AND AP Bio. Use that free slot for Foreign Language level 3 or 4, or for a fun class (art, or culinary arts, or current events!)
Your schedule would thus look like this
Block Scheduling:
APUSH
AP calc AB
Aice media studies,
Foreign Language 3 or 4
AP Chem
AP calc BC
Aice global perspectives
Fun class
If you don’t have block scheduling:
APUSH
AP calc AB
Aice media studies,
Aice global perspectives
AP Chem
Foreign Language 3 or 4
Fun class
Senior year
AP Bio
AP Calc BC
1 AP or AICE English
1 AP or AICE Social Science/History
Foreign Language 4 or double up in a subject of interest
a fun class
I would drop AP Environmental… and take AP chem instead. You like chem. That will help you do well in it. Also drop AP calc AB and take AP calc BC. AB & BC overlap by almost 70%.
I’ve heard that AP Environmental Science is a pretty easy class so if you’re up for a challenge, don’t take APES.
AP Chem and AP Bio are double blocked at most schools so I’m not sure if you could fit both into your schedule. Also Calc BC covers all of Calc AB and more so you don’t need to take both. Take what interests you! The A in chem depends on the teacher but it will be easier to get an A in a class you don’t mind studying a lot for. I agree with MYOS, taking a foreign language would be a great idea. Best of luck! My schedule looks pretty similar
At some schools, Calc AB and BC are taught sequentially (ie., the parts that overlap are mostly taught in Calc AB and the harder stuff is taught in Calc BC), whereas at other schools it’s a choice (one or the other: AB only, or BC only.) If you attend a “sequential” school, you can’t take BC before taking AB, since you’d be missing more than half the contents.
At my school, AP Calc AB is required before BC therefore when we receive the A/B block scheduling next year I will have AB on lets say monday and BC on lets say tuesday! Im not really interested in taking a foreign language credit because I am currently in AICE Spanish and don’t have enough interest to take AP Spanish when I have other classes I would rather take. My school does allow AP Bio and AP chem at the same time but of course that would be wayyyy to rigorous for me. I am currently in 5 college level classes and dual enrolling so I don’t think 7 will be a problem for me as long as I choose the right ones. Although I like Chem, I am afraid to get a B in the class even though I know I will pass the exam (my school has one of the highest passing rates). Thus, would it be smarter to take AP Bio next year and dual enroll chem???
It would really make no difference at all, although I’m a big fan of taking the class in HS if your HS offers it. Regardless, I concur that your schedule is too over-the-top, but it seems like you’ve made up your mind.
