Should I double up on science or should I just take APUSH?

Alright. So my plans for next year(junior year) are to take AP English, AP Calc AB, AP Bio, and AP Chem/APUSH. I’m mixed. I know that, as a junior, I have a small chance of getting into AP Chem due to senior priority despite my grade (ended 1st sem with an A+). That problem was further conflicted with AP Bio. I know i want to take 4 APs next year, and I do want to take both AP Chem and Bio before the end of my highschool career. I know that’s a pretty hard schedule, and most people plan to just take APUSH and AP Bio and take AP Chem senior year.

What do you guys suggest to do? Should I try to get into AP Chem, or should I just take APUSH instead? I don’t really like history, but I don’t dislike it either.

My other two classes would be Spanish 3 H and maybe Art or something, since I’m required to have a visual performing art.

If I don’t take AP Chem next year, then I would end up having AP Calc BC (my school only offers Calc AB, BC, and AP Stats), AP Chem, AP Spanish, and AP English as my APs if I don’t take AP Econ or AP Gov.

As a college student who, while in high school, took many AP classes, I would consider how much reading you can handle at one time. APUSH is a lot of textbook work. Also consider when you took regular Chem (if you have before). If AP Chem is your first Chem class, take it as a senior, doing two sciences for the first time is incredibly difficult. If you took Chem this year (sophomore year), I would consider taking AP Chem junior year so you retain more information.

Personally, unless you’re a gifted math student, AP BC Calculus is very difficult (as a person who struggled in math a lot it was a very hard for me), so I would choose to take the class you think you will do better in while taking AP BC Calculus.

I hope this helps!

AP Chem is the hardest AP, but it is less time consuming (at my school). If you are more passionate about science, definitely take AP Chem
