Anyone else in the same boat taking AP chem and AP environ together in one year, your thoughts on this?

AP chem and AP bio would have been too much for me, so I went for AP environmental instead, if anyone else has done this or have done something similar, would two AP science courses be really grueling or does it depend on interest.

I'm really interested in environmental science but I see chem has being a big hurdle to clear.

Comments, thoughts, responses, anything is welcomed!

I’m doing Physics C E&M, Environmental, Biology, and Chemistry next year. It’s probably going to be a lot of work but its nothing near impossible.
I’ve already read through AP ES once in the past few days and I don’t see it as very difficult, but I’ve heard that AP Chemistry is pretty difficult, especially in arithmetic, where you have to do a lot of 123.52/8.34 pretty quickly.

sheesh 4 AP science courses…

I don’t even think any kid in my school takes all 4 even when they graduate…
I should start gathering AP chem and AP environ books to read over the summer then.
Which books are you using for the AP chem and AP environ?

I’ve heard that PR was great for both so I bought PR for both.
I’ll probably also buy Crash Course or Cliffs for Environmental since I think that PR is short and concise, but I’d like to have a little more info just to be safe.
I’ll probably also get Barron’s for AP Chemistry if PR isn’t enough just to overkill it.

I used PR and Crash Course for both.

Honestly, EnviroSci is a pretty easy self-study with background in Bio and Chemistry, I’m sure you’ll be fine.

For both of those courses, I found the school textbook to be more helpful than the review books because it didn’t skip out on good explanations and in-depth detail that helps you understand and make applications to the material.

–Ap Bio is a lot of work, but taking enviro with it is nice because concepts do overlap and I was happy during the AP test and class test that there were a lot of ecology questions and I never had to study those chapters the last week or two.

I took AP Chem and APES this year in addition to AP Calc AB, AP Physics B, AP Lit, and AP World History. Three AP sciences plus AP calc was horrific. However, just having AP Chem and APES would’ve been easily managable. APES was pretty easy, but I never studied and therefore didn’t get the best grades. AP Chem is not too ridiculously difficult unless you don’t study. I scored more than one 100%, with the curve, on tests this year without even studying. However, if I had studied, I would’ve been golden and setting curves much more often than I did. I think these two classes would be very easy to manage for you.

I’m also taking AP Chemistry with AP Environmental Science, along with Honors Anatomy & Physiology. I don’t think it will be too much work. Last year, I took AP Biology, Honors Chemistry, and Honors Marine Science and did very well. If you like science, this should be no problem.

Be sure to check out my Official thread for AP Environmental Science and AP Chemistry. Just google Official AP Chemistry (or ES) 2013 Thread. Post away there :)

I am taking both Ap chemistry and Ap environmental. At my school environmental science is a graduation requirement but I opted out of taking honors/regular environmental science freshman year for Ap environmental science sophomore year. I absolutely loved honors chemistry and ended with a 98 average so I decided to take Ap chemistry.
