which AP Science should i take? Physics/Chemistry/Environmental?

Its my senior year and im taking a lot of ap's which might mean a lot of work. I took AP BIO this year and a lot of my friends are considering taking Environmental because its easy. Ive never taken physics or earth science regents level.

Thanks in advance

take AP Chem. It’s more fun and less pain in the ass

Chem, definitely. I hear that Enviro is considered an “AP-lite,” which doesn’t bode well if you want to get into an Ivy. Also, taking AP Physics without good physics grounding first via an honors course is asking to get slaughtered. Chem’s moderately easy and it’s fun.

AP enviormental, dont make your senior year hell

AP Chemistry would be a good choice to get college credit, by AP Enivornmental Science is an excellent class, as it will apply to your life, especially in the years to come, more than any other science class.

So AP Chem. will pobably look good, but AP Env. Sci. is great if you want a worthwhile, eyeopening class.

I have not taken AP Chem, but did take AP Env. Sci. and got a 5.

I’m in the same situation as you. I have never taken physics, but I wanted to take AP chem because I want to be a biochem major or do neuroscience. I decided to take both AP physics Newtonian Mechanics and AP Chemistry.

It honestly depends on your teacher for both AP chem and physics, and probably any class in the history of the world. The AP Physics teacher in our school is phenomenal according to many of my classmates. Most of them achieved a B+/A- with only a pre-calc background. If the AP physics teacher at your school is good, then I would say go ahead and take it, even if you haven’t taken a physics class because you should have taken a physics class before graduating. Same goes for AP chem.

I say take a physics class senior year even if you decide to take AP chemistry, especially if you are planning to be a science major. If possible try to take both, because rigorous senior schedules look good, and if you can handle the course-load, even better.

Great advice Renegade, Thanks and to everyone else. Any more info will be much appreciated

In order of difficulty (I don’t think anyone would disagree)

Physics > Chemistry >>> Enviro

Go with Physics or Chem, whichever one you find more interesting.

Enviro is definitely the easiest, but most colleges overlook the enviromental science AP exam, even if you get a 5. Difficulty between physics and chemistry varies from who you ask, but from students that have taken both AP chem and physics the answer isn’t very clear. Most students I’ve talked to said AP physics E/M is much harder than AP physics Newtonian mechanics. A couple students also said Newtonian Mechanics was just as hard as AP chem.

Physics isn’t that difficult even without having taking a lower level physics class beforehand.

Im taking AP physics B, first time taking any physics class, and i get 80s and occasional 90s on tests, which are completely taken from old aps.
