***AP Chemistry Thread 2015-2016***

What are your schools’ 4-5%s for Chem?

It’s already the 5th week of school, yet we’re still on naming compounds. welp

Finished atomic structure (quantum mechanics, etc) and currently in bonding + liquid/solid… we’re following the big ideas instead of going in order of the textbook :frowning: ap chem is really hard so far tbh.

Does anyone know a good site / book where we can practice a lot of redesigned-structured MCQ? I really need practice…

We are currently on Thermochemistry…I feel like my teacher is moving a bit too fast.

Intermolecular Forces, Gases, Properties of Solutions (saturation, solubility in terms of IMFs).
AP Chem is one semester, so essentially going twice the average pace.

I feel like we’re behind most of y’all (on quantum #s/electron config)…but maybe it’s because we start in September…

@zenith99 You’re fine! The first unit (Aqueous and Thermodynamics took us about 3 weeks). You’re in Quantum, and that’s just the chapter after.

Does anyone know where I can find this year’s version of the reference sheet? My teacher told us that extra information has been added on it and I’d like to be sure about that.

I don’t believe that the CB has published anything more recent. If your teacher has anything different, ask him/her.

@skieurope thanks!
My teacher said that memorizing the solubility chart isn’t necessary this year and that it will be given on the test. Any of you guys have teachers that said the same? I find it hard to believe, honestly.

@Zinubi I can’t deny for certain but we were forced to memorize them either way.

At what point are you guys at? We are about to take a test on Kinetics / Equilibrium

We just finished gas laws. Are we behind? I feel like we are. We spend 1 hour of the class sitting there, 15 minutes taking notes, and then the last 15 minutes sitting there again. I don’t think that’s good.

We’re on chemical bonding (going by Brown LeMay book) – Chapter 8.

Is it necessary to remember customary-metric conversions?

@XoXdreamerXoX
It depends on if your class is semester long or year long. If your class is semester long like mine, then yes. But if it’s years long, then I think you’re ahead of most people.
I’m currently on Chapter 16 of the Brown LeMay book, which makes @zenith99 at the perfect pace since it is going at half the pace.
I believe Gas laws are in Chapter 10 of the Brown LeMay book, so you’re good.

@92465829 In life? Yes.
For the AP exam? No. They don’t expect that. All information is given in metric anyways. Although you should know the different metric units.

^lol. Haven’t even heard of that.

Finishing off gas laws over here

We’re on chemical bonds…CH. 8 …lemme tell you Bozeman seriously helps and do all the practice problems you possibly can
