AP Chemistry vs H. Chemistry and H. Physics

I’m currently a rising junior and I’m facing a dilemma between my classes for next year.

I had originally planned to take chemistry over the summer, as it is a pre-requisite, and take AP Chemistry during the school year. This would allow me to take these classes for 11th grade: AP Calculus BC, AP Chemistry (double period), AP Language, AP Programming 2, AP World History, and Honors French 3. However, after considering that my prospective major, computer science, has nothing to do with that subject and that the honors version of chemistry is not offered during the summer, I have now considered canceling summer school altogether and switching AP Chemistry (double period) to Honors Chemistry and Honors Physics. This would allow me to take AP Physics senior year, which, in my opinion, is the better class to take. It would also keep my weighted GPA up a little bit, as I wouldn’t have an unweighted class from summer school on my transcript. However, with these changes, my schedule for junior year wouldn’t look as rigorous as it could be.

Another possibility would be to cancel the class, learn the material by myself, and take AP Chemistry as I had planned. However, if my counselor were to notice this, he would most likely not allow me to take the class. It also probably wouldn’t bode well for me when it comes time for a counselor recommendation letter.

What would be my best option?

You could do a few things:

  1. Take AP Chem and AP Physics (C?) senior year
  2. Take H Physics then AP Physics
  3. Take H Chem then AP Chem
Or 4. Take H Chem & H Physics, and self study then take the AP Chem exam. Take AP Physics senior year.
