My son took the AP Computer Science class during his freshman year but didn't take the AP test because he didn't feel like to at the time. Even though he got an A in the class, does it look bad in the eyes of competitive colleges that he didn't take the AP test? By the way, he's currently an incoming senior.

Generally, if there’s no self-reported AP test score for an AP class that’s on the transcript, the adcoms will assume that either the student didn’t take the test or took the test and got a bad score. Neither of these is positive because it implies the student wasn’t prepared. Though AP test scores don’t really matter for admission; they’re mostly only considered for credit once the student commits to a college.
If your son has several other AP test scores to demonstrate his knowledge, then it should be fine.

I don’t think pumpkin is necessarily correct. I saw a post previously where a student called Penn regarding a mis-reported AP score, and he said they told him they don’t look at them for admissions anyways. You could just call admissions and see what they think.
